We have a very exciting new role with a health charity in Gloucestershire, ideal for someone with project management skills and experience, particularly in a marketing environment.

The focus of this post will be getting the component parts for a given project or campaign together, and ensuring everything works smoothly and to schedule in order to maximise publicity for the charity’s activities and services.

The postholder will work on a wide range of projects, including bringing their innovative approach to key campaigns such as World Awareness Day, and their Annual Student Campaign. They will also work closely with the fundraising team, supporting them with marketing projects and ideas.

This is a brand new role for the charity, joining an existing team of five. It will report to the Marketing and Campaigns Manager, and will have two line reports of its own: the Digital Marketing Officer and part time Senior Designer, working remotely.

Medical Detection Dogs trains dogs to save lives.

We train specialist dogs to detect the odour of human disease, providing life-saving alert assistance dogs to people with complex health problems across the UK and collaborating with other researchers, NHS Trusts and Universities internationally to advance the early diagnosis of disease.

The Job

 You will assist the Health & Welfare Coordinator in their role, providing support to socialisers and fosterers and dealing with queries including those relating to health & welfare and holiday cover, referring the queries to the appropriate member of staff where necessary.

The welfare of our dogs is of paramount importance and you will help ensure that dogs at the MDD Centre are at all times well cared for and that their health & welfare needs are met.

Reports to: Health and Welfare Coordinator

Specific Responsibilities

Health & Welfare needs

· Ensure MDD dogs are fed, watered, toileted and exercised as required while they are at the Centre.

· Weigh and groom MDD dogs as needed when they are at the Centre.

· Ensure all dog first aid kits are fully equipped

· Assist with the weekly health checks of all Bio Detection Dogs and ensure that vaccinations and any preventative medication are always up to date and administered as and when required.

· Ensure all Bio Detection Dogs have the appropriate equipment and are correctly tagged.

· To support when requested, the training of any new staff on Health & Welfare matters.

Bio Detection Dogs Supervision

 · Assist with the organisation of the monthly schedule for each Bio Detection Dog.

· To meet the Fosterer’s and handover the Bio detection dogs when they arrive to collect at the end of the day.

· Assist with arrangements for holiday or other temporary cover when a fosterer is going away.

· Arrange day cover in emergency situations.

· Help coordinate the collection and return off dogs from fosterers, liaising with other staff as necessary and as and when required arrange volunteer drivers to collect or return dogs or when

· necessary collect or drop off dogs yourself.

· Organise the rota for dog walkers and keep them updated on any changes.

MDD Site Responsibilities

· Ensure all bedding on the MDD site is washed, clean and changed regularly.

· Ensure that the dog holding areas are regularly cleaned and well maintained, with support from the contract cleaning team.

· Ensure that the grooming room is regularly clean and well maintained.

· Ensure the veterinary room is kept clean and tidy, well equipped with relevant treatment & equipment.

Record Keeping

· Keep accurate records of Bio Detection Dog health, welfare, weight and any medications or treatments given.

· Ensure that all Bio Detection Dogs insurance and microchip details are correctly recorded.

Fosterer Queries

· When requested, act as the first point of contact for all fosterers, including out of normal working hours in emergencies.

Other tasks or ad hoc duties agreed with your line manager required to ensure the successful running of the charity.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

· Experience of practical dog training.

· Understanding of dog health and welfare and experience of providing basic, considered and appropriate advice and support to dog handlers.

· IT literacy and report writing skills including experience of using Microsoft based programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and Power Point

KNOWLEDGE

Practical Knowledge in the following areas:

· The basic theory of practical dog training.

· The law in relation to dogs i.e. appropriate areas to free run a dog, ID needed etc.

· Dog and human psychology.

· Health and safety implications of dog and fosterer handling.

· A basic understanding of the various diseases and medical conditions with which the charity works, or the capacity and willingness to learn.

Using your specialist recruitment knowledge, you will utilise a range of effective candidate attraction methods for different roles at the RHN.  Quick at building strong relationships, you will be a key point of contact to our stakeholders and recruiting managers, offering advice and expertise to support their recruitment campaigns.  With a passion for customer service, you will communicate confidently and effectively with candidates, ensuring a positive recruitment onboarding and retention experience.

You will line manage a Recruitment Assistant and work closely with the HR Business Partner for Resourcing & Retention to engage the Recruitment Team to deliver objectives and operate a highly effective and efficient customer-focussed Recruitment service. 

You will support the HR Business Partner for Resourcing & Retention with identifying and delivering on Resourcing & Retention projects that add value to the recruitment process and achieve our aims within the People Strategy.

To succeed in this role, it is essential that you have worked in a fast based resourcing role previously, preferably within a healthcare setting.  You must have experience of a range of candidate attraction techniques and be able to think creatively to support hard to fill recruitment campaigns.  You should have experience of ATS’ and recruitment systems, optimising them to full functionality and providing solutions to any issues.

The Primary Care Network (PCN) Cancer Care Coordination Service provides an improved experience for patients beyond their interactions with clinical services. Working within a network of GP surgeries, we support both patients and clinicians, contributing to the overall holistic approach to supporting those living with cancer. This integrates the ‘beyond medicine’ approaches offered by the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) into the cancer pathway. The service undertakes holistic needs assessments and provides practical and emotional support, acting as a single point of access for patients on the cancer pathway. Working closely with clinical staff and additional roles, this role ensures a more integrated approach across the Health and Social Care sector.

This post is an exciting opportunity to work with Nottingham City’s PCN 8 (Clifton and Meadows). Using the Macmillan Electronic Holistic Needs Assessment to support Cancer Care Reviews will ensure patients have access to the right support for all their non-clinical needs. The post will also work on the preventative agenda, supporting uptake of cancer screening across the PCNs and supporting the practices within the PCNs to deliver their improvement plan around early diagnosis of cancer (in line with NHS England and NHS Improvement - QOF Quality Improvement domain 20/21 – Early diagnosis of cancer). The post holder will be expected to work a significant proportion of their time within the PCN areas, both within the community and within GP surgeries.

Job Purpose and Objectives

• Work in partnership with the practice staff, inclusive of link workers to ensure referral pathways are clear and criteria for accessing the Gateway is understood.
• Monitor Cancer QOF lists, offering support, Cancer Care Reviews, and completing eHNAs for eligible patients as appropriate.
• Support individuals to create a Care and Support plan with the aim of supporting them to live better with a Cancer Diagnosis.
• Support with the delivery of care and support plans, referring to other organisations as appropriate.
• Work within different communities in the PCN area to increase awareness of the benefits of screening programmes.
• Actively encourage and support targeted communities and individuals to take up screening opportunities they are eligible for.
• Work closely with GP practices within the PCN to ensure that social prescribing referral codes are inputted to EMIS/SystmOne/Vision and that the person’s use of the NHS can be tracked, adhering to data protection legislation and data sharing agreements with the clinical commissioning group (CCG).
• Have a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding and escalate safeguarding concerns.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Area Support Coordinator to lead, manage and support teams of volunteers, develop, and maintain relationships with local services, and ensure that people living with and affected by MND receive an exceptional service, improved support, and are at the heart of our care initiatives.

A fundamental part of the role is ensuring individuals affected by MND receive tailored support. Your responsibilities will include leading and coordinating volunteer activities, developing branch and group capacity, and establishing new groups as needed.

A key focus will be understanding local needs and collaboratively planning, designing, and delivering support activities. You will build and maintain excellent relationships with our wonderful volunteers, care centres/networks, care coordinators and multi-disciplinary health and social care professionals, hospices, other partners.

We are in search of someone who can:

• Identify and address support issues by working with volunteers and individuals affected by MND.
• Guide collaboration within the branch and group network, fostering a supportive environment.
• Proactively manage the recruitment, selection, and induction of volunteers.
• Facilitate local learning, development, and networking opportunities for volunteers in collaboration with Association colleagues.
• Enable effective communication between volunteers, staff, and the wider Association, promoting a culture of collaboration.

This opportunity is home-based with travel requirements across Bristol, Gloucestershire, Bath, Northeast Somerset, North Somerset and Wiltshire.

• Skills to identify, assess, and respond to support needs through a person-centred approach.
• Understanding and delivery of care and support services in the statutory, private and/or voluntary sectors including value and challenges of volunteering.

• Demonstrable understanding of the management of risk and safeguarding.
