Our Young Peoples Programmes focus on mental health prevention by delivering upstream resilience building programmes to young people across the UK. Traditionally delivered through workshops in mainstream education and community-based settings, we have recently diversified our approach and our focus is now on engaging and supporting young people from diverse and underserved communities.

Building on our existing programmes we have been through an extensive needs assessment and co-production phase which has provided us with the foundation to design evidence-based and culturally appropriate programmes.

We’re seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our Tenancy Sustainment Team as a Welcome Caseworker. This is a new role where you’ll lead on initial assessment of new clients into our service, delivering strengths-based and person-centred support to people moving into their own home for the first time. Your mission will be to co-produce support with new clients, enabling people to have a positive and empowered start to their support journey with us.

About the role:

The Welcome Team is a new service within our Tenancy Sustainment Team (North), and lead on initially assessing and triaging the needs of new clients who are referred into the service. Where clients are due to move into their own home, the Welcome Team offer pre-tenancy and move-in support to clients, enabling clients to resettle into their new homes successfully. Our key aims are to maximise opportunities for successful tenancy sustainment, support clients to develop their resilience and independence, and equip clints to successfully move on to longer term independent accommodation within 2 years.

As the Welcome Caseworker you’ll lead on delivering initial assessments with new clients. You’ll identify the needs that clients may have in improving their physical and mental health, reducing their isolation, and in maximising their income and financial resilience. Working together with clients and partner services, you’ll agree an initial support and safety plan with new clients, identifying SHP and community services and resources that can help clients to meet their goals and aspirations, and connecting clients to these services.

You’ll assist new clients to resettle into independent accommodation, delivering practical support including with  paying rent/bills, setting up and managing utilities, and liaising with housing providers. You’ll also support relevant Team Managers, in providing guidance and advice to colleagues, gaining feedback from new clients about our service, and in contributing towards continued service development, improvement and innovation

About you:

• Understanding of clients’ needs and aspirations, and ability to identify and assess clients’ needs using a strengths-based and person-centred approach
• Understanding, experience or willingness to learn in supporting clients to improve and better manage their physical and mental health and wellbeing
• Strong team-working and interpersonal skills, maintaining a collaborative approach to delivering service objectives
• Strong time management skills, ability to work on own initiative, manage competing priorities and maintain high standards
• An understanding of the principles of planned support and working with people with lived experience of homelessness
• An understanding of the principles underlying a quality and customer focussed service with the proven ability to empower service users
• The ability to be self-motivating, work under pressure and manage time effectively, prioritising different areas of work according to need

The role of the Young Persons emotional support worker is to help co-ordinate and deliver the Young Peoples mental health service in Schools and in the community of Haringey for the Myends programme. This project is new and will work with young people in schools and in the community that transitioning in mental health services and those not already in the mental health system experiencing multiple disadvantages and deprivation and some of whom may or may not be experiencing mental ill health.

The Evidence & Impact team work collaboratively with staff across Rethink Mental Illness to ensure that impact is at the heart of how we design and deliver services and projects. We have a dual role, supporting delivery staff in improving practice and realising outcomes for people severely affected by mental illness, and providing an evidence base to inform campaigning and influencing activities.

I am an organisational advocate for achieving better social impact by effectively using evidence to improve support for people affected by serious mental illness.

I conduct analysis and present a range of quantitative and qualitative impact data for a range of reports for internal stakeholders and external commissioners.

I create and maintain a range of service Business Intelligence reports/dashboards for Rethink, that enables us to effectively communicate impact and learn from this.

I present and disseminate impact evidence effectively via multiple channels, online and face to face.

As a Social Impact Analyst I work as part of the Evidence & Impact team at Rethink Mental Illness. This team sits within the Corporate Resources Directorate, in Quality and Business Intelligence, but our focus is increasingly organisation wide. You will provide a customer-focused and effective administration HR service and act as the first point of contact for internal and external enquiries for both HR, Payroll and Recruitment queries.. This role reports into the People Operations and Systems Manager and is a mixture of remote working and office based.

This is a hands-on position for someone who has already started their career in HR (at least 18 months experience) and therefore has an understanding of HR administrative practices; together with recruitment and payroll support. The role will provide HR administrative support to all departments across the organisation, across various processes including recruitment, onboarding, coordinating logistics for new hires, implementing and tracking data on Bright HR and the preparation of all documents for payroll.

Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust is one of 46 local, independent Wildlife Trusts and is the charity that works to make the environment of Birmingham and the Black Country (Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton) a better place for wildlife and people through conservation management, environmental education, advocacy, and community involvement.

As a wildlife charity serving a heavily urbanised area, a major element of our work is to provide the ecological evidence that supports the designation of wildlife sites and informs the protection of nature in the face of urban development.

This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to nature’s protection and recovery in Birmingham and the Black Country. The post holder will undertake ecological survey and management planning work to underpin the protection of local wildlife of great value to people, communities and organisations across our region.
