The Head of Development and Impact will be our lead fundraiser, drawing in support and expertise from across the team. They will take ownership of identifying funding sources, creating a strategy, forecasting our fundraising income, and building strong relationships with donors, bringing the experiences of our group members to life in fundraising communications. They will line management a full-time fundraiser who specialises in individual giving while the Head of Developent, Operations and Impact will lead on grant writing.
In the last 5 years, this role has achieved huge success in CARAS’ development, more than trebling our income and enabling us to expand our staff team and therefore our reach. We are a highly impactful organisation that is often looked to for our insight in the sector. We have an ambitious five-year strategy, co-produced with group members, staff, volunteers, trustees and partner organisations, that guides our current work.
This is an exciting role that comes with many varied commitments, expectations and timescales. We are seeking applicants who want to be at the forefront of change, striving to improve the rights, entitlements and day-to-day experiences of refugees and people seeking asylum. You will need to be able to show how your skills and experiences fit the role, as well as possessing a drive for social change in support of under-served people. Within this role, you will have scope to shape and secure the future of CARAS.
You will be supported in a variety of ways, including by an expert team of staff around you who will collaborate with you and work together as needed; a highly professional Board of Trustees who you will work with at key points throughout the year and who are available for consultation and advice as needed; robust and effective systems; and a network of organisations and funders who share CARAS’ goals. Additionally, you will have regular and detailed supervision with your line manager, and you can access our Employee Assistance Programme at any time.
This opportunity comes at a very exciting time. CARAS will be piloting a 4 day week from the 1st of January- 30th June 2025, meaning that all staff will be working 80% less time for 100% pay. Full time employees will reduce their hours to 4 days per week. We anticipate that this will be a huge boost to staff wellbeing and will become part of our commitment to care for staff as well as our community members.
We are also creating our next Strategic Plan, preparing for a future in which CARAS is a highly respected, impactful organisation with a £1million income.

The role:
The Head of Development, Operations and Impact is required to lead a wide range of activities. You will be expected to manage your own time, prioritising tasks and leading a small team of people who contribute to CARAS’ fundraising. You will inherit excellent systems and skilled, supportive and enthusiastic team players. You will work closely with the CEO, and the senior leadership team which draws together Heads of Service from each of our programme areas. You will collaborate with our Finance Manager to ensure smooth management of grants and donations, and will play a key role in budget setting with the Finance Manager and CEO.
The role demands cross-departmental working, and regular contact with community members to enhance your ability to advocate for them. You will be at the forefront of developing new ideas and approaches, and ensuring that teams have the money and resources to have an impact.
Key tasks and activities.
General

Lead the Operations department, line-managing team members in fundraising and operations management.

Fundraising

Line-manage our Fundraising Officer and work together to generate income to meet CARAS’s budgetary targets through trusts and foundations, individual giving, community fundraising and other means at our disposal.

Develop and deliver a fundraising strategy which synchronises with the CARAS Strategic Plan.

Maintain a real-time pipeline of fundraising opportunities and oversee delivery. Lead or allocate all income generation opportunities in good time so that appropriate co-design and decision-making processes are behind applications.

Ensure compliance with best practice in fundraising including use of data and confidentiality.

Work collaboratively with Heads of Service and CARAS’ Finance Manager to develop, deliver and iterate systems to ensure grants are accurately and effectively managed.

Lead on the development of programmatic and core budgets for diverse grant funders.

Identify and build corporate partnerships based on organisational needs, values and income targets.
Operations

Line-manage our Operations Manager and work together to ensure our premises, IT infrastructure, data management and risk management systems are effective, efficient, and legally compliant.

Oversee or directly manage service providers and ensure that all contractors represent value for money and are appointed in line with our policies.

Maintain and develop strong, effective partnerships with delivery stakeholders such as our landlords, Wandsworth Council officers etc.

Support the team to monitor projects from start to finish, including preparing costing for applications/bids, agreeing contracts and grant terms, monitoring deliverables and finance, and co-ordinating timely reporting.
Finance

Work collaboratively with the Finance Manager to ensure the rigorous financial management across all income and expenditure to ensure all grants and donations are accurately accounted for and spent.

Working collaboratively with the Finance Manager and CEO, develop the organisational annual budget and lead on income projections for the year ahead to ensure expenditure budgets are feasible and unlock multi-year growth.
Monitoring, evaluation and impact

Leading CARAS’ annual outcomes evaluation, managing work across departments to collect, disaggregate and analyse outcomes data from our Learning, Casework and Social Programmes.

Develop CARAS’ outcomes report and donor report ensuring they are data rich and clearly demonstrate impact.

Monitoring the wealth of data CARAS collects through our frontline service to ensure we stay agile and adaptable within a changing policy context, supporting Heads of Service and other relevant stakeholders to deliver excellence.
Governance

Contribute to the maintenance of up-to-date policies relevant to the role.

Attend board meetings as requested to share reports with the Board on fundraising.

Direct experience of the following:
Proven experience in a leadership role.

This vital and substantive new role is to increase charitable income so BBG can deliver its charitable purpose and planned major development.
The Development Manager post has been created with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to increase fundraising skill and capacity and will be responsible for managing the day-to-day fundraising function. The priority is the capital project, but in addition the postholder will also build a portfolio of fundraising streams for capital, projects, and operational costs. The Development Manager will be responsible for day-to-day activity, including fundraising data management, income from trusts, grants, individuals, sponsorship, legacies etc, providing exceptional levels of stewardship for all donors and funding partners.
The new postholder will work with the small but dedicated team of Development Director and Systems Development Officer (part time). The new post includes management of any staff and volunteers working to support the development function. The postholder is responsible to the Development Director in raising the funds to deliver the Major project and beyond and growing the day-to-day fundraising operation and a strong body of supporters at BBG.
Key Responsibilities
• Achieve income and performance targets in accordance with BBG’s agreed Fundraising Strategy and business needs, as directed by the Development Director.
• Responsible for managing BBG’s development/fundraising function data, ensuring the highest quality and accuracy of data and information on BBG’s new Spektrix CRM system in compliance with wider BBG requirements and the Data Protection Act.
• Raise funding from trusts, grants, and sponsors and support campaigns for fundraising from individuals, especially major donors, to meet the targets of the Major project, as agreed.
• Work with Horticultural, Commercial and learning/Engagement teams, and other staff to determine projects and outcomes, maximising opportunities for raising funds to support core functions as well as projects, once the capital is secured.
• Manage and oversee funding contracts with trusts, grant givers etc, including payment schedules, reporting, and monitoring compliance with any conditions of funding.

About NUM:
National Ugly Mugs (NUM) is an award-winning charity with a mission to ‘end all forms of violence against sex workers.’ NUM provides a mechanism for sex industry workers to report crimes and harm they experience and share this information within their communities to warn others of potentially dangerous individuals and situations. We have a dedicated casework team of industry experts who support sex workers to further access criminal justice remedies and other services as determined by these victims/survivors to cope and recover from crimes they experience. We also host a range of other projects in racial justice, mental health, drop-in support (Scotland), and vocational exploration.
Role Summary:
National Ugly Mugs are looking to recruit a Victim Support Case Worker to provide greater access to justice and protections for sex workers based in or touring in London. The post holder will work across multiple agencies, from London victim support services, Citizens Advice, SARCS/Rape Crisis, specialist sex worker support organisations to those providing services to sex workers, and sex worker-led groups. They will work with police and Met officials via working groups or direct engagement with BCU SPOCs to support reporting to police.
The Victim Support Case Work plays a part in maintaining a wide network of practitioners and officials both local and national, to ensure that we are victim-centred and provide resources in ways that are individualised and safest for sex worker survivors as part of prevention, victim support and recovery. As such, the post holder will be supported by partners from sex worker-led groups and rights activists, and provided with relevant training and clinical supervision to support them in the role.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans as part of the Strategic Communications team. Sustrans has been working on a digital product to make the National Cycle Network (NCN) more accessible for disabled people across the UK.
As the Project Manager, you will oversee the second phase of developing this innovative digital product, working closely with out external digital agency, managing the development and test of the online tool to take it from beta to minimum viable product and the soft launch scheduled for the summer of 2025.
You will build and manage internal and external relationships with key people such as internal colleagues and external digital partners to ensure all parties involved are regularly updated on the progress of the product, and work closely with the strategic communications team to plan for the soft launch of the product
This role may require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans.
About you
You should have ideally have experience of managing the development and roll out of digital products, as well as basic understanding of accessibility, UX and user testing.
You will also be experienced in effectively managing a project and budget ideally for a digital product, online application or website and the ability to build relationships with ease across a wide range of people.

The West Midlands team are seeking a Fostering Panel Vice Chair to support the Chair in conducting monthly virtual panel meetings held on third Wednesday of the month via Microsoft Teams.

- Have at least 2 years’ experience of sitting on a fostering panel.
- A history of employment experience at team manager level or above, ideally in a social work or family placement setting.

As a Fostering Panel Vice Chair your duties will include:
- Occasionally chairing Panel meetings, in the absence of the Chair, ensuring that multifaceted issues are thoroughly considered and recorded, having undertaken thorough preparation for meetings.
- Co-ordinating and directing the work of the Fostering Panel and ensure the quality of foster carers recruited, meet relevant standards.
- Facilitation of the active participation of all panel members alongside the Chair of Panel.
- Regular liaison with the Chair of Panel, decision-maker and with other senior managers as required.
- Participation in the recruitment, selection, and induction of new panel members.
- To assist the Chair in regular planning of training for and appraisal of panel members and support with Ofsted Inspections as and when required.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
· Line management of a Database Executive, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.

· Support the Database Manager on database improvement projects aimed at improving teams’ processes surrounding their use of Salesforce.
· Provide 3rd line support for the Data Team ticketing system, ensuring tickets are resolved in a timely manner.

Supplier Partnerships Manager
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Salary: £43,668 - £45,851 with excellent benefits
Location: London, UK
Hybrid Working: A minimum of 40% of working time is spent face to face, either in London office, or as a result of external engagement or travel for WaterAid. WaterAid is located at Canary Wharf, London and this will be your location and contract base.

About the Team:
The Supplier Partnerships team sits within the Supporter Experience and Operations Team at WaterAid and aspires to deliver sector-leading supporter care, excellent supplier management and contracting expertise and effective internal & external response handling operations. The team exists to champion the supporter experience across the organisation and ensure this remains consistent at every touch point.
About the Role:
As our Supplier Partnerships Manager, you will manage the Supplier Partnerships sub-team, reporting into the Supporter Experience & Operations Lead. The Supplier Partnerships Team plays a central role in supporting our fundraising teams to maximise supporter engagement through the selection and performance management of our key external service partners. This team are a centre of subject expertise and will also ensure we have well defined and consistently applied approaches to supplier management across the Mass Engagement department.
In this role, you will actively manage a small portfolio of strategic fundraising service suppliers, ensuring contractual requirements are met, as well as defining and monitoring service levels (SLAs) to ensure performance is maintained.
You’ll also:
- Effectively lead, manage, and motivate the Supplier Partnerships team, ensuring each member of the team makes a full and effective contribution to the organisation
- Maintain a network of key stakeholders within WaterAid, ensuring that their needs and responsibilities relating to supplier management are understood
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement or efficiency gains where these contribute to the overall supporter experience
- Act as the subject matter expert for supplier management, promoting and championing best practice within the wider organisation, providing specialist advice and training as required
- Maintain a level of awareness of external trends and best practice in supplier operations and procurement, ensuring that WaterAid are at the leading edge in terms of our services and standards
- Work with the Supporter Experience and Operations Lead in developing detailed budgets, forecasts, and plans
About You:
To be successful, you’ll need:
- Excellent supplier management / relationship management, ideally in a charity fundraising environment
- Successful experience of people management, coaching, training, and personal development
- Demonstrable experience of using / designing KPIs, SLAs and other performance metrics to drive process and service quality improvements
- Strong stakeholder relationship management (up to senior management), able to work collaboratively to build positive and effective working relationships across teams
- Ability to identify problems, undertake analysis and deliver potential solutions through influencing and negotiating with others
Although not essential, we also prefer you to have:
- A good understanding of fundraising regulations i.e. Fundraising Code of Practice, Gift Aid and BACs (Direct Debit) regulations
- Professional qualification in supplier / service procurement or directly relevant experience
