Routes To Roots was formed to meet the identified needs of those experiencing or effected by homelessness across Poole. Providing individuals with a daily hot meal, social interaction and access to additional health and wellbeing support.

As a Project Worker at The Genesis Day Centre, Poole, you will play a vital role in providing support and assistance to individuals who are homeless and vulnerably housed.

You will contribute to the daily serving of food as well as the successful implementation of support groups and programmes. Working within a small team of staff and volunteers you will help address the immediate needs of homeless individuals, whilst promoting long-term solutions and empowerment. A faith based charity, the organisation seeks to provide the daily essentials in addition to ongoing support and signposting.

Main Duties

• Offer emotional support, guidance, and advocacy to help meet the immediate needs of individuals presenting at The Genesis Centre as well as navigating them through their homelessness journey.
• Empower and motivate individuals through 1-1's and groups.
• To work with multiple agencies based both at the Gensis Centre and externally to ensure effective and efficient collaborative working
• Identify and coordinate appropriate group sessions that provide support and encourage the growth of networks and peer support.
• To contribute to the daily delivery of the Genesis Centre offer including organising, preparing and serving meals as well as providing access to provision including washing and laundry facilities.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including progress notes, incidents and attendance records, whilst ensuring compliance with data protection and confidentiality policies

About the Role

This is a key role to support our Operations Co-ordinator with accounting and financial administration of the charity.

Responsibilities

• Managing and recording all financial transactions of the business, journal entries, sales ledger and purchase ledger, bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations, general ledger management, banking, making payments, staff expenses, credit control, weekly and monthly reporting to management, closing the sales ledger and purchase ledger at the end of each month, ensuring all month end journals are posted and any other duties as required by the organisation
• Process timesheets, Gift Aid claims and payroll
• Carry out Partial Exemption calculations for VAT purposes
• Reviewing draft contracts for financial implications
• Kashflow software experience preferred but not essential
• Ensuring restricted grants are analysed and allocated accordingly

The Diocese is seeking a Church Building Support Officer to join our team on a fixed-term contract, to work closely with parishes to help secure sustainable futures for some of our most historic and cherished church buildings. You'll help PCCs to identify and explore complimentary non-worship uses for their buildings, helping them to become vibrant and viable centres of mission and community life. You’ll support them in ensuring the church buildings are fit for the future, fostering greater community engagement, and developing long-term sustainability strategies.

This is a new fixed-term post funded by the Church Commissioners of the Church of England through their Buildings for Mission funding. The funding is for an initial period of twenty months, ending in September 2026, unless the funding is extended.

The main responsibilities of the Church Building Support Officer are:

• Work with Parochial Church Councils (PCCs) to develop community action plans that align with local needs.

• Support PCCs in identifying mixed-use opportunities for the church building

• Facilitate the building of strong relationships with local groups, charities, and other partners to promote the wider use of church buildings.

• Help PCCs in maintaining and developing their buildings to accommodate wider uses, and ensure they are kept in good condition

• Foster volunteer engagement, helping churches recruit for new roles and groups to aid long-term sustainability.

• Capture and share key lessons from pilot projects to inform future diocesan strategies.

As a member of the senior leadership team, this post will work cross departmentally and will contribute to the overall strategy of Woman’s Trust, working closely with the CEO and the Board of Trustees. We are looking for an Engagement Manager to join our team while our Director of Development is on maternity leave. The person will be responsible for project managing the work of the engagement team. Engagement

1. Oversee our Engagement with Chambers in England & Wales

· Manage The Chambers Pro Bono Framework, our initiative for chambers.

o Recruiting chambers for 2025

o Ensuring regular communication

o Responding to queries

o Producing bespoke reports for each set of chambers

o Working with our Communications Officer to publicise the initiative

· Manage the Pro Bono Champion scheme and lead on our relationships with them.

o Ensuring regular communication

o Keeping our records up to date and accurate

o Recruiting new Pro Bono Champions

2. Support the Director of Casework and regional caseworkers with engagement

Communication

1. Project manage the work of the Engagement Team

· Ensuring the business plan and engagement strategy is delivered

· Advising and supporting our Communications Officer with key stakeholders and the press, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

· Advising and supporting the Fundraising and Events Officer

o Ensuring events are delivered to an excellent standard and on budget. Of key importance are the annual Bar Pro Bono Awards.

o Overseeing fundraising events/campaigns to ensure targets are met.

· Overseeing the work of the Projects and Engagement Coordinator, to increase the Bar’s engagement.

2. Lead on our engagement with Pro Bono Week in November 2025

3. Overall coordination of our stakeholders’ communications calendar.

1. Undertake any other responsibilities as reasonably requested by the Chief Executive and the Director of Casework/Chief Operating Officer.

2. You may be required to work outside of your usual working hours from time to time to support the work of Advocate.

Essential

1. Experience of line managing staff

2. Extensive experience of directing multiple projects, meeting deadlines and managing competing priorities

3. Experience of creating a wide range of communications for key stakeholders

4. Experience of managing social media or marketing campaigns

5. A highly organised, and thorough approach to work with meticulous attention to detail

Avon Wildlife Trust is recruiting 2x Trainees to join the Pollinator Recovery Team. These 9-month placements require no previous experience or degree level education, and offer the skills and experience necessary to kickstart a career in the environmental sector.

Insects pollinate £690 million worth of crops in the UK annually, with wild pollinators carrying out 85-95% of this. Many species of bee, moth, butterfly, hoverfly, fly and beetle provide this essential, often overlooked, service. Despite this, the steep decline of pollinating insects, and the loss of the habitats that support them, are well documented.

The AWT and partner organisations in the West of England aim to halt and reverse these losses, with an ambition to become the UK’s Bee & Pollinator Capital. As a Pollinator Pathways trainee, you will help to support delivery of this ambition.

The Pollinator Pathways project focuses on the area within the ‘B-Line’ (Biodiversity line), between AWT’s reserves of Folly Farm and Browne’s Folly, with ambitions to scale up and expand this work around the Avon area.

The trainee will support the teams work with farmers, landowners and communities to grow the network of habitats between these reserves. To ensure climate resilience you will work hands on, with expert support from project staff, on a variety of priority habitats including grasslands, hedgerows, in-field trees and woodland edges, all of which are important pollinator habitats.  

There is also a generous training budget which will allow successful applicants to learn new skills such as GIS (Geographic Information System), First aid, Species ID, UK habitat classification, Biodiversity Net Gain training, Brushcutter/hand tool training etc. Trainees will under-take one ‘study’ day per week where they can research/train in relevant areas of interest.

As a Pollinator Pathways trainee you will:

· Support the project team in delivering the Pollinator Pathways Project

· Carryout 1 day per week of dedicated study. Details to be agreed with the Pollinator Recovery Manager

· Gain the skills, licences and experience needed to start a career in the environmental sector

· Learn how to deliver nature recovery projects (admin and ground works)

· Obtain a good understanding of relevant legislation and funding processes

· Help arrange and run community engagement events and volunteer work days

· Shadow senior staff on farm visits and community events, assisting in writing reports for landowners

· Support habitat surveys and monitoring efforts alongside the project team

Successful applicants will be invited to attend an informal group interview at Folly Farm Centre, Stowey on Tuesday 26th November 2024 to undertake habitat maintenance as a range of practical tasks and an informal discussion with each candidate.

We are looking for 2 Women’s Project Support Workers who can provide support to service users at our Women’s only supported housing projects.

You will work proactively with female service users who have been homeless and have complex needs, to sustain their tenancies and move on into independence. You will also work empathetically to empower services users, actively engaging them with the community, helping them to support each other, develop resilience, live independently, and to be an asset to the community.

The right fit

• You will have demonstrable support worker experience, preferably working with women who have been homeless and / or have complex needs including, mental health, substance misuse and domestic abuse etc.

• You will also have solid demonstrable organisational skills, with experience in timekeeping, planning your workload, and managing workloads effectivity.
