Job description

Wimbledon Guild is a community charity in Merton offering practical help and support so that people never have to face life’s challenges alone. Whether money’s tight, someone is feeling low or overwhelmed, or they’re looking for new friends and activities locally, we’re always here.

Our BACP accredited Talking Therapies department has been running for over 40 years and we are historically known for providing long term psychodynamic therapy. To meet the emerging needs of the local community, we have developed new and more accessible services which now include emotional support groups, psycho-education workshops and short-term counselling.

Due to the success of the department, we have recently secured long-term funding to provide counselling and groups for targeted communities including Black and Asian communities, Refugee communities and online therapy for people who are housebound.

We're recruiting for a Counsellor (Black and Asian Service) to provide up to 16 sessions of counselling to these communities at our Wimbledon and Morden sites. We would be really interested to meet with applicants who have experience of how services work either in a charity or similar service. If this sounds like you, it would be great to hear from you.

Please note: Applications for this post are restricted to people that come from a Black and/or Asian heritage as the role is dedicated to delivering our talking therapy service for Black and Asian clients. The Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies to this post.
