Culturally Responsive Independent Sexual Violence Advocate

Contract: Full time, Permanent
Based in Worcestershire and Herefordshire (must be able to travel throughout West Mercia)
Salary: £29,439 per annum pro rata

The Organisation

West Mercia Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Centre (WMRSASC) has been supporting survivors of all types of sexual abuse and sexual violence for over 35 years and provides a range of services including advocacy, therapy, education and prevention work.
WMRSASC’s vision is to eliminate all forms of sexual violence and the harm they cause. Our mission is to enable those who have been silenced by rape, sexual abuse and exploitation to have a voice; and to make a difference by delivering the best specialist support and prevention services.

The Person

We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic individual to join our team of experienced professionals who are committed to making a difference to the lives of survivors of sexual violence and abuse. You will need to have a background in the sexual violence sector, or a related field, and have the skills to provide non-judgemental trauma informed support. In return we can offer you specialist training, support, supervision and the opportunity of working as part of a great team.

- As our Culturally Responsive Independent Sexual Violence Advocate, you will:
- Support Survivors: Manage a caseload that includes survivors from Minority Ethnic communities, providing them with the support they need.
- Break Barriers: Identify and address the barriers that prevent Minority Ethnic communities from accessing our services and develop innovative solutions to overcome these challenges.
- Promote Awareness: Raise the profile of our Specialist Minority Ethnic Service and foster positive relationships with statutory and voluntary agencies.
- Enhance Referral Pathways: Create straightforward referral pathways to ensure that Minority Ethnic communities can easily access our services.
- Champion Diversity: Ensure our services meet the diverse needs of all communities and promote self-referrals.

- The post holder will be expected to travel across West Mercia as and when there is a need.
