Oxford – hybrid, 2 days pw in the office


The Talent Set is delighted to be partnering with Helen & Douglas House, an incredible children’s hospice that helps families cope with the challenges of looking after children living with life-limiting and terminal conditions. They provide outstanding care in a warm and loving environment. The hospice is filled with laughter, whilst also being a peaceful place where families can create happy memories in their last days, weeks, months or years together.

It’s a brilliant time to join the team who have recently launched their new 5-year strategy where major gifts has been identified as a key growth area and organisational priority. There is a huge amount of support and investment for high value fundraising with the backing of the senior leadership team, Board and Chair, who herself has a background in major gifts and lends her expertise and support to the team.

We are seeking an experienced philanthropy fundraiser to lead on the development and delivery of the major donor programme. As Philanthropy Manager you will focus on stewarding and expanding a portfolio of HNWIs that is currently generating around £400k per year. You will be a natural and confident communicator that is keen to meet with donors and prospects to solicit gifts and uplift existing support, to raise vital funds for such a worthy cause.  


The Role:

·       Steward a portfolio of existing major donors giving at the 4, 5 and 6-figure level

·       Proactively work through the results of a recent wealth screening to build the pipeline, create prospect plans and begin outreach to cultivate relationships

·       Support the Philanthropy Executive to deliver the mid-value giving programme, The Children’s Champions

·       Work with the Senior Philanthropy Manager to develop a long-term growth strategy for major donor fundraising with emphasis on growing the number of high value donors and also maximising the lifetime value of supporters

·       Establish strong working relationships with colleagues, particularly in the Services team, to be able to deliver exceptional stewardship and impact reports

·       Develop and manage income and expenditure budgets, providing regular reporting, and reforecasting as required


About You:

·       An experienced philanthropy fundraiser with a track record of managing and securing gifts from HNWIs at the 5-figure+ level

·       Excellent communication skills, and ability to engage with senior internal and external stakeholders confidently

·       Solid understanding of effective stewardship journeys and can demonstrate delivery of donor engagement plans

·       Experience using a database for effective donor and financial management, experience of Donorflex is beneficial

·       Proactive, positive and a team player
