We have an exciting opportunity for a Volunteering Design Manager to join our team based in Gilwell Park or Home based. 

Position: Volunteering Design Manager

Location: Gilwell Park or Homebased

Salary: (Gilwell Based) £48,235 per annum, Band G,Level 3 ( inclusive of Outer London Weighting)

Salary:  (Homebased) - £46,475 per annum , Band G, Level 3

Please note:

If Gilwell Based contract the expectation would be to come into the office once a week plus one day a month for collaboration with wider team 


If home based contract, then expectation is once every 4-6 weeks.

Term: Permanent

Working Hours: 35 hours per week 

About the team and role as a Volunteering Design Manager Role:

The key purpose of this role is to lead and work with the Volunteering Design Team to design and deliver ‘products’ to better the experience of Scout volunteers. This includes maintaining products to support volunteer training, local governance and the overall volunteer journey. This role uses Agile and Product Management techniques to deliver products quickly and in partnership with volunteers, to ensure support for volunteers remains current and relevant

Key responsibilities as our Volunteering Design Manager Role include:

  • Support and deliver operational projects in line with wider strategic priorities.
  • Provide support to volunteers at the Scouts who deliver Scouting locally 
  • Work in partnership with Team UK and UK People Team volunteers to ensure that resources are simple to use
  • Effectively identify and prioritise products and maintain a clear backlog and team work plan
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure resources produced are edited and checked for accuracy 

What we are looking for in our Volunteering Design Manager Role:

  • Able to effectively line manage, prioritise workload and work to meet deadlines  
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, manage and deliver a diverse workload 
  • Able to effectively lead and motivate a team in a matrix environment, providing support, feedback and guidance
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of current volunteering trends, challenges and solutions
