The Organisation

The Royal Parks (TRP) is a charity created in March 2017. We manage over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London. These are Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James’s Park, The Regent's Park and Primrose Hill, Greenwich Park, Richmond Park and Bushy Park.

We also manage other important public spaces including Brompton Cemetery and Victoria Tower Gardens. Our eight Royal Parks and other iconic green spaces are among the most visited attractions in the UK with 77 million visits every year.

We are now looking for a Sustainability Officer to join us on a full-time, permanent basis.

You will work in some of London’s most iconic open spaces, ensuring their longevity whilst fostering a positive environmental impact across multiple Royal Parks sites.

The Role

As a Sustainability Officer, you will develop and implement sustainability initiatives and action plans across our parks.

Providing administrative support to the Head of Sustainability, you will assist with engagement activities, process utility bills and support in the operational delivery of our ISO 14001 environmental management system.

In this varied role, you will get involved in everything from carrying out environmental audits to supporting different park teams with sustainability challenges. You will also gather sustainability data for monitoring.

Additionally, you will:

  • Deliver sustainability presentations and inductions
  • Help set up mechanisms to track and report against delivery
  • Support the Head of Sustainability in managing our energy and water consumptions
  • Assist the Head of Sustainability with carbon footprint calculations
  • Aid in evaluating sustainability requirements for tenders and projects
  • Help to deliver the annual internal sustainability conference
  • Deputise for the Head of Sustainability when required

About You

To be considered as a Sustainability Officer, you will need:

  • Experience in a sustainability role or similar
  • Experience with numerical and data analysis
  • Experience of environment management systems and internal auditing
  • Knowledge of the main environmental sustainability issues, risks and opportunities
  • To be educated to degree level in a sustainable development and/or environmental discipline or equivalent relevant experience
