The Children's Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 140 years. We run local services that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We're there for children, every step of the way.

This role sits within our Sitting in our Storytelling knowledge group, you'll live our values every day. You will support colleagues to be brave and ambitious in raising our brand profile and building audience awareness through multichannel storytelling techniques.

We are currently looking for a passionate and enthusiastic designer. You cannot wait to grab hold of our bold, ambitious brand. You'll push and stretch to create inspiring, distinctive design across digital and print. You'll work with colleagues across the charity to deliver clear, consistent content that's challenging and arresting. You'll make sure your contribution reaches the right audiences, is driven by insight, attracts people and inspires action. And you'll help to promote a culture of learning and growth within our storytelling knowledge group and beyond.

You'll bring your skills and ideas to design work of your own, helping to stretch our brand. You'll also be supported by the Senior Designer and Lead creative to upskill people throughout the charity so that they can use our visual identity confidently. You'll help to develop training and toolkits and guides for colleagues. You'll ensure we're promoting inclusive representation across our brand and have opportunities to co-create with young people; ensuring our brand not only elevates youth voice but gives young people agency.

We work across domains, and knowledge groups. Our work is carried out in activity groups. As our Midweight Designer, you'll play a pivotal role in many of these groups. And all your great work will go towards making as big a difference to the lives of children and young people as we can. If that sounds exciting, we'd love to hear from you.

About you

You'll bring

-design and content creation for a wide range of communications - including advertising, marketing, brand, fundraising comms

-understanding of how to use audience insight to drive change and improvement

-experience and evidence of using design and visuals to complement and enhance communications messages

-broad digital knowledge and interest; including content design, content management, UX, accessibility and analytics

-a keen eye for detail and a willingness to learn new skills

-new ideas and a desire to explore your, and others', ideas with colleagues

-understanding of working in cross-functional groups aligned to a shared goal.

You'll

-ensure a strong, consistent visual identity that considers the needs of children and young people and brings our brand to life

-create designs for colleagues across the charity, providing direction on their approach to ensure consistency

-work with copy, video production, digital producers, and story and voice colleagues to explore concepts and develop standout creative that will work for the target audience

-develop, champion, and protect our brand's visual identity principles champion co-creation with children and young people, actively seeking out opportunities to go beyond contributions of stories

-build strong collaborative relationships across knowledge groups and expeditions to deliver effective creative campaigns.
