Job Summary

The primary purpose of this role is to support the Events team in delivering a range of high performing events. You will be one of the first points of contact for our event fundraisers, leading on a number of third party events, including the Manchester Marathon Weekend, our Threshold Sports partnership and our Independent Runs, Cycles and Challenges team. You'll provide support, materials and fundraising advice to all fundraisers, ensuring that high quality supporter relationship management is maintained at all times.

The secondary purpose is to support a range of areas including: invoice processing, up keeping website content and helping the team to guide our fundraisers through their journey and helping to creating engaging content for our digital platforms (Facebook , Instagram and Twitter).

Our Events team support a wide range of fundraising and engagement events including our Family Days, our annual flagship fundraising event; The Twilight Walk, The Lewis Moody Foundation and a variety of challenge events.

You will operate at the centre of a hands on fundraising team and will be supported to develop your event planning and management skills and play a key role in helping us to improve our supporter journeys. We’re looking for a highly motivated individual with a can do attitude, who’s ready for a challenge, requiring you to juggle a myriad of priorities. You will also be required at times to support the wider Fundraising team.

The person

You'll be a talented and highly motivated individual, keen to use your organisational skills to make a real difference. A conscientious and dedicated professional, you will be a strong communicator via all mediums, with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders. Ideally you will have previous experience in events, either as a volunteer or as an intern and be committed to bringing the personal touch to deliver the best user experience, maintaining and growing relationships.

The Brain Tumour Charity is moving at a fast pace so we are looking for someone that has an enthusiasm and passion for our work and a conviction to deliver positive outcomes for those that are affected by this devastating disease.

Key accountabilities

  • Work closely with the Events team to ensure supporters are directed to the most appropriate team to support them in their fundraising journey. This includes being the first point of contact for all event enquiries, building relationships with supporters, processing event registrations and responding to all enquiries in a timely manner
  • Send out t-shirts, certificates and thank you letters as well as any other fundraising materials to fundraisers in a timely manner ensuring they receive the best stewardship
  • Ensure all enquiries are logged accurately on the database
  • Lead on a number of third party challenges, including Manchester Marathon weekend and Threshold Sports challenges as well as our independent runs, cycles and challenges portfolio
  • Develop existing relationships with supporters to further engage with The Charity
  • Ensure event risk assessments are kept up to date across the portfolio
  • Work as an integral support to the Events team in delivering on your event KPI’s as well as supporting the events team on our large scale events; London Marathon, Twilight Walk
  • Ensure stock and merchandise is replenished and kept in a organised manner
  • Lead on the event packing for up coming events ensuring items are returned to the correct locations as well as leading on the check in/out process of our event materials for other teams
  • Attend numerous events throughout the year, representing The Charity and engaging with members of the public to raise awareness
  • Provide support on the Lewis Moody Foundation alongside The Brain Tumour Charity, where required

Experience:

  • Ability to provide administrative support to and individual or team in a fast paced environment
  • Experience of working with a range of people, with the ability to understand their needs and deliver service
  • Experience of the charity sector and/or events with the sector

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of events and their potential within fundraising
  • Highly organised, confident self-starter and capable of taking initiative
  • Empathy with the aims, objectives and activities of The Brain Tumour Charity
  • Self-reliant and competent IT user including internet, email, databases, spreadsheets and MS Office
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work flexibly and creatively and to respond to the emerging needs of the charity
  • Strong motivational skills, able to drive team performance across varied workloads and fluctuating activity levels 
  • A deep empathy and understanding of our mission

  • Discreet and confidential in relation to both financial and personal records/information
  • A real team player willing to work flexibly across different teams and respond to the emerging needs of The Charity

��Location: While contracted to our office in Fleet, Hampshire, our team supports a blend of office and home working provided you have adequate broadband and IT capability, with an average of 2-3 days in the office each week. 

⏰Working hours: This role is 37.5 hours per week, with some out of hours working. 

��Benchmarked salary: c.£23,400 (dependent on level)
