Fire Fighters Charity exists to offer personalised, specialist support to the UK’s extensive fire and rescue services community, focusing on health and wellbeing services to ensure they can live healthier and happier lives.
The Talent Set are delighted to be partnering with Fire Fighters Charity to recruit their next Director of Fundraising, a key SLT position that is integral to their ambitions to broaden the reach and impact of their work.
As Director of Fundraising you will be responsible for c£8-10m voluntary income, managing a team of c20-28 across all income streams to support long-term sustainable growth and the development of new income streams. With a particular focus on building their high-value fundraising opportunities (across corporate, trusts/foundations and major donors) you will model progressive and inclusive leadership, identify new opportunities to grow voluntary income, and embed a long-term value stewardship culture across the organisation, ensuring donors and supporters feel inspired and compelled by the charity’s impact.
Fire Fighters Charity are currently developing their SLT team and have big plans for the future under the leadership of their new Chief Executive, Sherine Wheeler. This position will be integral to supporting the overall leadership of the organisation, ensuring those ambitions are grounded in robust strategies and delivered with rigour, and further developing new cases for support that enable further income generation opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as an effective member of the Senior Leadership Team, helping define and deliver organisational strategy and working closely with the CEO/Trustees to impart subject matter expertise.
- Lead the fundraising team to deliver against income targets and maximise new opportunities - developing and implementing an ambitious strategy that allows for supporter growth across regular giving, legacy, trusts and foundations, major donors, corporate and community income streams.
- Take the lead on innovation in the charity's fundraising approach, developing products and offerings whilst considering cost effectiveness and ROI.
- Embed a culture of stewardship across the organisation, ensuring supporters and funding partners are developed with long term support in mind.
- Lead and develop the fundraising team, empowering them to deliver against targets and supporting professional development.
- Establish engagement and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders (internally and externally).
Person Specification
- Experienced senior fundraising leader, with a breadth of skills and expertise developing and implementing successful multi-stream fundraising strategies.
- Focused on supporter journeys and ensuring exceptional stewardship to drive engagement and income across all donor audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management expertise (internal and external) with an ability to build robust relationships and gain support/commitment.
- Evident organisational development skills with the ability to act as an effective member of SLT and contribute to organisational strategy/plans.
- Comfortable acting in the capacity of a charity ambassador, establishing new relationships as a consequence and identifying new funding opportunities.

As a member of DofE’s Executive Leadership Team, you will also contribute to the overall strategic and operational leadership of DofE, working collaboratively with senior colleagues to ensure DofE activity is aligned behind our strategy and modelling our values and behaviours.

Respond is entering its thirty fourth year as a charity and has grown from a small London based charity to a medium sized national charity in recent years. Our mission is to reduce the impact of trauma in the lives of people with learning disabilities and autistic people, by developing trusting relationships, through psychotherapeutically informed services.
As Director you will be the clinical and safeguarding lead across Bild group and will lead Respond to fulfil its mission of reducing the impact of trauma in the lives of people with learning disabilities, autistic people and their families. You will champion our highly regarded trauma informed advocacy and psychotherapy services and ensure appropriate clinical governance processes are in place. You will also work in collaboration with Bild to continue to develop the Respond branded training and consultation service and develop key stakeholder relationships within the sector, enhancing Responds reputation, encouraging partnership working and supporting the diversification of income generation.

ACT (or Aldates Community Transformation Initiatives) is a welcoming community that includes many with lived experience of prison, street homelessness or addiction. Through street and prison outreach, community meals, mentoring and housing, we help people rebuild their lives after some of life’s toughest experiences.

Room to Heal is an established therapeutic community in London. We support refugees and people seeking asylum, many of whom are torture survivors, through an integrated programme of therapeutic and casework assistance, in the context of a community of survivors. We are looking for a Director of Finance who can demonstrate excellent people skills, including working with and recognising stakeholder needs. Someone who is adaptable to change, with excellent analytical, strategic planning and organising skills. You will be a commercial thinker, solutions driven and a decision-maker. You will be a positive leader who can persuade and influence a team and other directors with excellent communication skills.
You will:
- Be a strong, experienced senior leader with excellent influencing and persuasive skills
- Be degree-educated in a relevant finance discipline and a Qualified Accountant (ACA; ACCA; CIMA).

Fantastic opportunity to play your part in facilitating peace in areas affected by war and conflict. This well regarded international development charity whose mission is to prevent violent conflict and build safer lives are looking for a Director of Finance and Operations. The Director of Finance & Operations will support the CEO to develop the financial and operational strategy. The role will ensure financial sustainability, enhance resource management efficiency, optimise business processes and controls as well as mitigate risk whilst adopting a continuous improvement mindset.
Detailed responsibilities of the role will include;
- Provide strategic leadership on financial strategy and management

In order to be successful in the role, we are looking for successful candidates to demonstrate formal accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), extensive experience of financial management gained within a multi country international charity setting (including the complexities of managing funds in areas of conflict) as well as the gravitas to operate with credibility to advise the Board.

Working alongside the Chief Income & Engagement Officer, you will be embedding and establishing our new Engagement Strategy framework and work to understand what it really feels like to engage with RNIB.

As Director of Customer Experience and Engagement, you will have direct responsibility for the Customer Experience and Engagement teams, including Data Strategy and Analytics, Customer Experience.
You'll work with and lead your team to provide tools and support for translating data and insight into successful customer engagement approaches which improve reach, impact and income. You will also support and partner with other departments across the organisation to embed a truly customer-first and insight-led culture, championing the best use of data to promote the customer experience.
This is a strategic role within an environment centred on change through continuous improvement and curiosity. You will need to be confident in your leadership to motivate and empower others and be able to coordinate and facilitate strategic change directly or by influencing others.

Job purpose:
As a key member of Saferworld's senior leadership team, the Director of Finance and Operations will be instrumental in helping to shape the organisation's strategic direction. Person specification
Knowledge, qualifications and experience
- Accountancy qualifications, preferably CIMA, ACA and ACCA, and a clear understanding of Charity Fund accounting (SORP 2008 and the Charities Act 2003)
- Extensive experience in financial management and interdepartmental budgeting in a senior leadership position in an international organisation (preferable and international charity/non-for-profit).
- In-depth understanding of the complexity of overseeing and managing finances in an international context, particularly in contexts of conflict and/or war, including complexities of banking, tax, cash-flow management, exchange rate fluctuations and impact on budgets and forecasts, financial reporting, legal compliance, and transferring of funds to civil society and community-based organisation within different contexts, including conflict-affected areas.
- Senior leadership experience within the charity/not-for-profit sector and an understanding of costing funding bids and ensuring financial reporting systems meet funder requirements
- Experience of engaging and working with diverse funding streams including institutional donors, commercial contracts and Trust and Foundations and multiple currencies and geographic jurisdictions,
- Experience of working with a business partnering approach to achieve with others joint goals.
- An understanding and experience of project management delivery across an organisation, including an ability and willingness to undertake 'hands-on' tasks, such as preparing budgets, cash flows and other financial planning, management and control processes if required
- Operational experience in overseeing and supporting IT systems, especially in financial systems development – experience with the SUN system is especially desirable
