About Us: Students' Union UCL is dedicated to enhancing the student experience and advocating for the interests of our diverse student body. We represent the 48,000 students who study at UCL, a global top 10 university.

About the Role: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced policy and research professional to lead our Policy & Research Team. The successful candidate will develop and deliver a comprehensive programme of policy research and insights work that will drive positive change at UCL and nationally.

Our Policy & Research Team plays a crucial role in understanding the views and experiences of our members on key topics affecting student life. We produce a range of reports, publications, briefings, articles, and thought leadership to provide evidence and insight that supports our influencing priorities and campaigns.

You will work closely with elected student officers and other teams to share our research, the outcomes through dissemination events and communication materials. This role is pivotal in supporting the Students’ Union’s wider influencing strategy and involves leading strategic policy projects.

The Team also supports organising Russell Group Students’ Unions, a national network which supports Students’ Unions from across the Russell Group to set collective priorities to influence locally and nationally.

This post is a 9-month fixed term post from May 2025- Jan 2026, to cover a staff member who is going on a secondment. We could consider candidates for a secondment to this post. Please do reach out to discuss. This role is based at our Bloomsbury campus with flexibility to work from home on a 40/60 basis (40% working from the office).

The annual leave entitlement is 27 days pro-rata plus 8 Bank Holidays plus 6 closure days. We support hybrid working. Excellent benefits including defined benefit pension scheme and generous holiday entitlement. We are proud of high levels of staff engagement and pride ourselves on being a great place to work.
