About The Team
The Advice team at our Plymouth Hub delivers legal aid funded and non-legal aid funded work throughout Devon and Cornwall. Also based at the Hub are members of our Lived Experience team, who deliver a range of activities with the aim of ensuring the views and experiences of individuals with lived experience of bad housing or homelessness informs all of Shelter’s work and a Community Organiser who works with the local community to fight the housing emergency. People are at the heart of the services we offer and, in order to keep growing and evolving to suit the communities we work with and bring about real change, we need to understand what really matters for people.
Our Legal Service provides specialist legal knowledge across Shelter through four teams covering Community Legal advice, Strategic Litigation, the National Legal Team and Legal Support Team. You will be part of our Community Legal Team, who are based across our 11 hub locations and work alongside hub colleagues every day to fight housing injustice and deliver systemic change relating to housing practice in our local communities.
About the role
Using your legal expertise, you will play a key role in tackling housing in justice and unfair housing practices. You will be working under our Legal Aid contract, delivering legal advice and representing tenants at court where needed. Delivering systemic change through legal challenge to prevent homeless will also be a considerable part of the role.
About You
Qualified as a Solicitor, you will have a strong knowledge of housing law and be used to managing your own caseload. You have strong skills in advocacy, litigation, and file reviews. If you meet the Supervisor status for legal aid purposes that would be preferable but isn’t essential, as is experience of working under a legal aid contract.

Growing Hope is a charity providing free therapy for children and young people with additional needs in partnership with local churches across the UK. Job Purpose
Growing Hope is a national charity with a growing number of clinics across the UK. This operations role will provide support across the Growing Hope national staff team. This will include support with administration, finance, fundraising and training. This role is key in enabling all the functions of the national charity to run smoothly and effectively. The role will be based in King’s Cross with occasional events outside of the office.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities will be discussed and developed as the charity continues to grow. It is anticipated that this time will be flexible and adjusted according to the needs and priorities at the time. Specifically the role with include:
IT administration
- Administration of IT systems, logins and spreadsheets for the team, volunteers, staff and freelancers (keeping these up to date and amending systems as required).
- Ordering and setting up IT hardware and software for individuals joining the team.
- Oversight of IT systems used by Growing Hope including ticket tailor, jot form, mail chimp, Microsoft office, google adverts and tracking. Supporting with problem solving when issues arise.
- Overseeing and training others in Canopy (clinic administration software) and helping support and problem solve with using this. This includes liaising with a freelance software developer to manage the development project.
HR administration
- Oversight of the recruitment checking process for new volunteers, trustees, freelancers and employees. This includes carrying out DBS checks, calling referees, chasing for references and communicating with individuals as they start with Growing Hope.
- Management of the ‘internal news’ list in order to track individuals working closely with the charity.
- Writing, drafting and sending out HR letters, contracts and contract variations.
- Organising internal events on behalf of the team including away days, training days and ad hoc events.
- Organising online training as required for members of the Growing Hope team.
Office Support
- Overseeing the day to day office and building use including the alarm, maintenance visits, wifi, printer and other equipment. This includes liaising with other individuals who have office use.
- Liaising with the Director of Operations around the use of the office.
- Ordering office supplies as required, ensuring office space and storage is kept organised.
- Supporting with external events planning including finding venues, sponsorship and items needed.
- Ordering equipment as required across the team.
- Ad hoc tasks as required across the team.
Volunteer admin support
- Processing volunteer applications and induction as required.
- Oversight of volunteers using the office space on a day to day basis. Including allocating volunteer tasks and explaining and supporting with these as required.

- Logging all actions on Salesforce database.

The Corporate Partnerships Manager will support KSS's fundraising with corporate partners, businesses, and business-related organisations across all regions (Kent, Surrey and Sussex). The role will help to drive current activity towards its full potential and find ways to grow corporate fundraising through strong relationship management and stewardship.
Main Responsibilities:

Do you have experience in successfully managing complex projects, ideally in a not-for -profit environment? We are seeking an experienced Programme Manager to develop and shape programmes to successfully deliver against the Church of England’s ambitious target to become net-zero by 2030.
This role will be working across both Rochester and Canterbury Diocese and the successful applicant will need to have current working knowledge of environmental and climate issues.
This is a new role which is funded for two years.
Key Responsibilities
The post-holder(s) will:
- Oversee the ongoing development and delivery of the Net Zero Carbon (NZC) programmes for both dioceses.
- Maximise the alignment of the plans for each diocese as far as is practical to optimise the benefit of working together in partnership, and actively identify and develop opportunities for partnership working in delivery. Specifically, to develop a NZC action plan for Rochester including managing the adoption of the plan by the appropriate governance committees. (Note: Canterbury already has an approved NZC action plan.)
- Develop, maintain and deliver an implementation plan which highlights the strategic activities, has clear objectives and impact measures; including evaluation.
- Working with other diocesan colleagues, oversee the planning and development of decarbonisation projects to deliver the ambitions and targets in the NZC Action plans.
The Ideal Candidate
You will have a track record of delivering complex multi-stakeholder projects, ideally in a not-for-profit environment with and understanding of environmental and climate issue. An understanding of how these issues affect the Church of England would be beneficial.

This dynamic quality improvement framework, pioneered by carers within secondary mental health settings and now recognised within wider national policy, is based on six principles which health and care providers can use to include and support unpaid carers, staff and those receiving care.
