Background Information About the Sherwood Forest Trust for Job Applicants

Our vision:

To ensure the survival of historic Sherwood Forest as a national treasure for future generations of people and wildlife

The Sherwood Forest Trust is a Nottinghamshire charity (established 1995) with a mission to help protect, preserve and promote the remains of the former Royal Hunting Forest of Sherwood. We are a Registered Charity 1119614.

The Trust works in partnership with many organisations operating regionally and locally, ranging from major landowners, managers and farmers, local authorities at all levels,  community and ‘friends’ groups, schools, other nature, conservation and heritage charities and the business sector.

The Trust is a not for profit organisation, deriving its funds from grants, donations, fund raising, sponsorship and undertaking paid consultancy or conservation management work, eg: for local District Councils.

The three areas of work on which the Trust focusses are:

Conservation – heathland and woodland landscape improvements, restoration and management.

Culture – celebrating and promoting the legend, history, heritage and traditional crafts of Sherwood Forest.

Community – helping to promote greater engagement of people with nature, improving social cohesion, learning and co-operation within the modern communities of Sherwood Forest.

Business Strategy 2023-2025 -the Trust has a current strategy which has recently been successful in securing new funding for a new comprehensive programme of work to support the longer term sustainability of the organisation by introducing new revenue streams, developing existing partnerships and building our volunteer and user base. These are exciting initiatives with great potential for future growth

The current strategy can be found on our website.

The Sherwood Forest Trust is committed to the provision of equal opportunities in employment and in the delivery of services, regardless of race, disability, gender, belief or religion, age or sexual orientation
