Following its successful relaunch, the Air Cadet Charity is seeking a highly motivated Trust and Major Donor Fundraiser to help it achieve its aims of supporting and developing the young people of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The Air Cadet Charity, until now, has had to rely on donations but Trustees have decided to expand our income generation streams in order to enable us to do more for each and every Royal Air Force Air Cadet. Our activities and projects include supporting flying, adventurous training, drone piloting, participation in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, national sports and national music competitions, BTEC qualifications, STEM development as well as many others. Although the Charity had been around in a different guise for many years this is an opportunity to join a vibrant young charity at the start of its new journey to do more for the young people of our Nation.

The role will focus chiefly on sourcing funding from charitable trusts who share our goal of developing our young people, equipping them with the skills to prosper not only in the present but also for the rest of their lives. Some cadets will join the Royal Air Force, but the majority go on to forge careers in all walks of life thanks to the opportunities provided by the Air Cadets and the Air Cadet Charity. Our policy is to spend all that we earn and to dip into our capital if required. Annual expenditure and income is around £900,000 each year and our aim is to increase this to around £1,500,000 by 2029. The successful applicant will have tried and tested charitable trust fundraising skills such that they contribute the majority of the additional funds required to make this ambition a reality although we recognise that this will not be an overnight goal!  In addition, the successful candidate will have outstanding interpersonal skills enabling them to encourage donations from major donors and all who would wish to support the development of our young people.

The role will work directly to the Charity Director, will suit someone who is able to work as the sole fundraiser – although there may be scope to increase our resources as our ambition grows – and not afraid of hard work and added responsibility. It will be primarily working from home with regular contact with the Charity Director and the Trustees responsible for fundraising.

Pitching, presenting and proposal writing should be a strength, that can be evidenced through successful fundraising. Specific knowledge of charitable trust fundraising is essential and wider knowledge of other fundraising specialisms would be advantageous, such as Major Donor and Corporate. We’re looking for a proactive and ambitious team player, able to work from your own initiative.

Key Focus areas

• Expert knowledge of charitable trust fundraising with a track record in designing and securing major gifts through written and/or verbal proposals.
• A track record in securing income from individual donors, Major Donors and Philanthropists including knowledge of legacy fundraising.
• Develop engaging supporter journeys and Legacy pipelines.
• Provide an exceptional experience to our supporters.
• Strong understanding of fundraising principles but most importantly doing the right thing at all times.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Strategic thinker with exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

Salary £35k-£40k per year pro-rata, 26 days annual leave (not including bank holidays).

Regional Communications Manager

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on communications all-rounder with a breadth of skills to help deliver the strategic communications objectives for a national youth charity.

The charity is poised at an exciting phase of growth, with seven large scale youth centres (called Youth Zones) set to open over the next three years, a new three year organisational strategy, and an ambitious strategic communications strategy to support this in place.

About the Role

This is a key role within the communications team that will see you create understanding and awareness between the organisation and the key local and regional audiences that matter, as the charity embarks on its biggest ever period of growth. 

This role will involve managing a small portfolio of local end-to-end integrated communications and PR programmes at various stages, to launch new Youth Zones in Barnsley, Crewe, Grimsby and Preston.  You will work closely with each Youth Zone’s Relationship Managers and Fundraisers, as well as its CEO, and Trustee Board, and Young People's Development Group, acting as their trusted communications advisor.

In addition, you will oversee and lead a fundraising focussed communications and marketing campaign to boost reach to new funders (who we call Founder Patrons) in the areas where there are new Youth Zones.

The breadth of this role means no two days are the same, which is why we are seeking somebody organised, dynamic and self-motivated with exceptional project management and stakeholder management skills.

About You

We will be looking for someone that can demonstrate a broad range of communications skills from working with local media to place newsworthy, positive stories around the Youth Zones development, to supporting the development of new Youth Zones websites.

If you are as confident pitching a story to media as you are managing a branding project or overseeing an event, then this could be the role for you.

There will also be opportunities to contribute to the national communications plan, working closely with the Director of Communications and Brand on several high-profile projects, including overseeing and launching the new Youth Advocates programme, working with young people across the Network.

School Food Matters (SFM) exists to teach children about food and to improve children’s access to healthy, sustainable food during their time at school. We provide fully funded food education programmes to schools. Our experience delivering these programmes informs and strengthens our campaigns, bringing the voices of children, parents and teachers to government policy.

Job Purpose

· To manage an exciting, new programme in Southwark implementing a whole school approach (WSA) to food

· To promote, develop and deliver the programme across nurseries, primaries, secondaries and SEN schools in Southwark

· To ensure that the programme is delivered on time and on budget

Key Tasks include:

• Onboard and line-manage a Project Officer and volunteers to support delivery, providing training as required
• Conduct desk research to group schools and nurseries using a RAG rating, based on level of support required to achieve a WSA to food
• Create a detailed project plan for delivery
• Support with the development of resources and training packages for schools
• Work with an early years’ consultant to tailor resources and training to nursery settings

· Recruit schools to take part in the programme

· Build relationships with teachers, teaching assistants, cooks and senior leaders in schools to improve the food they offer their students

· Support schools to complete school food action plans and polices

· Deliver role-specific training to key staff in schools (training provided if necessary)

· Deliver in-person engagement sessions and online workshops to support schools to achieve their action plans

The Role

You will lead the Trusts and Foundations income generation across projects, supported by the Director of Development and Head of Development, to secure grants for the organisations and its work. You will effectively develop funding partnerships and relationships aligned to the strategic priorities.  You will manage and deliver the whole cycle of trusts and foundations income generation, including regular prospecting, producing impactful funder reports and maintaining our CRM system.

We are looking for a high-calibre candidate to take up a fixed-term role as Centre Leader at our IntoUniversity centre in Kennington. You will have responsibility for running your IntoUniversity centre, including managing your team, planning and delivering the programme, liaising with external stakeholders and meeting IntoUniversity’s targets for delivery. A substantial element of this role is delivering our education programme to children and young people aged 7-18, so you will need to have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for working with young people, including leading a class of 30 from the front, working with small teams of children and providing one-to-one support.

Eligibility for the role

In order to be eligible for the Centre Leader role, applicants will:

• Have completed an undergraduate degree to a 2.2 or higher.
• Have achieved a grade C/ grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths and English/ achieved National 5s or Standard Grade at Credit level (grades 1-2) in Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Have EITHER a minimum of 18 months full-time paid experience working in a delivery role at IntoUniversity; OR a minimum of 2 years full-time paid or voluntary experience working with children and young people, either at IntoUniversity, or external organisations, or a combination of both. • Be able to apply knowledge of F.E. and H.E. (e.g. UCAS applications) to help young people decide about their futures; and have knowledge of national developments in H.E. and their impact on young people traditionally underrepresented in H.E.

What will my main dutires be?

To lead the staff team at the centre, generating a positive and inclusive working environment and ethos and ensuring that the team are well motivated, are managing their workloads effectively, and are providing a high quality service.

You will initially be involved in the set up of this brand new centre, including developing local school relationships and we anticipate that delivery of the IntoUniversity programmes will begin in the 2024 summer term.

To ensure that the ethos and values of the charity are maintained in the IntoUniversity centre.

To act as the Centre’s Designated Safeguarding Officer (full training and support will be provided to become the Designated Safeguarding Officer). To create and oversee relationships with local education providers.

To oversee the successful delivery of our educational programme at the centre using positive behaviour management and adhering to the IntoUniversity safeguarding policy.

The PMO Manager is responsible for designing and managing the framework within which projects are created and managed to support strategic decision making and enable successful delivery of programmes and projects.  They will lead on management of UK Youth’s programmes by monitoring and supporting effective processes, governance and good practice. Sitting in Charity Services, they will be a centre of excellence for project management and governance across all functions and the charity as a whole, ensuring consistency and continuous improvement.

• At least 3 years’ proven experience in successfully managing complex projects and delivering operational efficiencies.  

• Demonstrable experience of designing, implementing and monitoring project governance and PMO processes and controls.

• Using a good degree of proficiency and well - established professional knowledge, will analyse and help to find solutions to challenges and issues that arise
• Support the Alpha Financial Controller in running the reporting and reconciliation systems of Alpha
• Complete monthly reconciliations (such as accruals and prepayments), as directed by the Alpha Financial Controller or with the Processing Team, if the need arises.
• Work with Accounting Processing Team on their monthly reconciliations, providing support on purchase and sales ledger
• Review the twice-monthly purchase ledger payments and monthly payroll for Alpha providing first-time compliance and accuracy checks.
• Review the monthly credit card payments for Alpha to make sure compliance with the expense policy and accuracy checks.
• Take responsibility with the Alpha Financial Controller for ensuring strong financial controls, good governance, and statutory compliance
• Assist the Alpha Finance Director and Financial Controller with projects on an ad-hoc basis.
• Detailed monthly bank reconciliation for Alpha with queries sent to responsible person for posting.
• Assist the Alpha Risk and Governance Team with Due diligence on grants outward –ensuring these are recorded completely and accurately; and that due diligence requirements are followed up, assessed, and filed
• Take responsibility for detailed analysis and reconciliation of all regional expenditure and income analysis
• Monthly Intercompany reconciliations and follow up
• Supporting the development of financial awareness across the charity and its operations at all levels of management and administration
• Review/approval of new suppliers on Dimensions (including checking and entering supplier bank details in Dimensions and Stonex)
• Assistance with Monthly Management accounts (forecasting, liaison with departments/regions etc)
• Involvement in the annual budget process (e.g. arranging meetings & checking templates to budget steer)
• Involvement in the yearend accounts preparation and Audit (Fixed Asset register, other schedules, providing samples and explanations to auditors)
• Responsible for preparing and submitting quarterly HTBG VAT returns
• First line of support for Alpha budget holders when they have questions about codes/payments etc.
• Work closely with the Alpha Fund development team to update them on financial information for donor proposals.
Other:
• Take occasional lead in Finance Team prayer sessions.
• Helping with cash collections and counts on Gift Days, LC and Focus

• Qualified/Part Qualified or qualifying accountant (ACCA/CIMA)

As the UK’s leading university access organisation, our staff team is helping over 50,000 young people each year at its 43 learning centres and extension projects across England and Scotland, and we plan to scale-up our provision to 50 centres over the coming years.

We are looking for a high-calibre candidate to take up a fixed-term role as Centre Leader at our IntoUniversity centre in Manchester North. You will have responsibility for running your IntoUniversity centre, including managing your team, planning and delivering the programme, liaising with external stakeholders and meeting IntoUniversity’s targets for delivery. A substantial element of this role is delivering our education programme to children and young people aged 7-18, so you will need to have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for working with young people, including leading a class of 30 from the front, working with small teams of children and providing one-to-one support.

£35,500 per annum

Eligibility for the role

In order to be eligible for the Centre Leader role, applicants will:

• Have completed an undergraduate degree to a 2.2 or higher.
• Have achieved a grade C/ grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths and English/ achieved National 5s or Standard Grade at Credit level (grades 1-2) in Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Have EITHER a minimum of 18 months full-time paid experience working in a delivery role at IntoUniversity; OR a minimum of 2 years full-time paid or voluntary experience working with children and young people, either at IntoUniversity, or external organisations, or a combination of both. Please note that we will not take part-time, seasonal or ad-hoc work into account when calculating the length of full-time experience.
• Have the right to work in the UK (please note that as a charity we do not have the capacity to sponsor work visas).
• Be able to apply knowledge of F.E. and H.E. (e.g. UCAS applications) to help young people decide about their futures; and have knowledge of national developments in H.E. and their impact on young people traditionally underrepresented in H.E.
• Have experience of confidently negotiating with a variety of stakeholders, for example: head teachers, funders, universities.

What will my main dutires be?

To lead the staff team at the centre, generating a positive and inclusive working environment and ethos and ensuring that the team are well motivated, are managing their workloads effectively, and are providing a high quality service.

You will initially be involved in the set up of this brand new centre, including developing local school relationships and we anticipate that delivery of the IntoUniversity programmes will begin in the 2024 summer term.

To ensure that the ethos and values of the charity are maintained in the IntoUniversity centre.

To act as the Centre’s Designated Safeguarding Officer (full training and support will be provided to become the Designated Safeguarding Officer). To create and oversee relationships with local education providers.

To oversee the successful delivery of our educational programme at the centre using positive behaviour management and adhering to the IntoUniversity safeguarding policy. 

Please note: that there will be times throughout the year when you will be required to travel to London for meetings.

The Student Advisor is a key role within the UWLSU’s Advice and Wellbeing team. The Student Advisor will deliver case-based advice and advocacy interventions to hundreds of students each year to an excellent standard. The post holder will work to ensure that our students are supported through academic regulatory processes such as mitigating circumstances, academic appeals, complaints and disciplinary processes at UWL. They will provide independent, non-judgmental and accessible advice to students that will empower them to make informed choices about their case. An understanding of external support networks is also advantageous, as our Advisors are expected to identify and provide signposting guidance to students that will help them access suitable support outside of the SU and University. We also pride ourselves on our partnership work with the University of West London and as such the postholder will be expected to demonstrate commitment to working in partnership with key stakeholders in the student experience at UWL.

You’ll work across our team, alongside our Information and Advice Worker, and potentially engage some of our volunteers. You’ll also bring in Parent Champions and lead sub-contracted work with a local community partner to help us reach residents in community languages. You’ll help us hear and collect resident stories. The information you collect will be reported to decision-makers responsible for health and care services. 

You’ll enjoy working as part of a team committed to improving health and care services and access for Islington residents. You may have lived experience as a parent/guardian/carer of a child and/or be from a minoritised community.
