Job description

Located in the beautiful countryside of North Cerney, Cirencester, Scrubditch Care Farm is a small but impactful charity dedicated to transforming lives. Our mission is to advance the education and well-being of adults and young people facing learning difficulties, challenging behaviors, or mental health issues, including dementia. Through hands-on training and experience in agriculture, horticulture, and related skills, we provide a nurturing environment where our participants can grow, learn, and thrive. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Student Support Worker to join our team. If you are passionate about making a difference and want to be part of a supportive community, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with students to provide general care for farm animals, including horse care.
  • Engage students in horticultural tasks such as watering, weeding, and harvesting produce.
  • Work with students on various activities including woodwork and cooking.
  • Assist the Care Farm Manager and Supervisors in planning and implementing learning activities, and help maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Work alongside Care Farm Volunteers to support students in their daily activities.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with Health and Safety and Safeguarding regulations.
  • Take responsibility for housekeeping in the main building, including maintaining cleaning records, monitoring fridge and freezer logs, and ensuring consumable items are well stocked.
  • Participate in fundraising efforts and assist with organising events.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in animal care, horticulture, or related fields is preferred.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Commitment to Health and Safety and Safeguarding standards.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and a passion for helping others.

Salary: £11.50 p/h

Hours Per Week: 21
