Job description

Samaritans is looking for a driven and user-focused Website Manager to join our talented Digital Engagement team, for 12 months covering maternity leave. You will play a critical role in developing and optimising the content and functionality of our website to deliver impactful online services and information to our supporters, volunteers, and those in need of emotional support. 

You will lead a small team and work collaboratively with colleagues and our external development partner to deliver products and campaigns that grow our reach and maximise conversions.

You’re a proactive and experienced digital specialist with a passion for using your skills to make a real impact in people’s lives.

• £40,500 – £42,000 per annum

• 12 months fixed term contract, covering maternity leave 

• Permanent, full-time role (35 hours per week)

• Hybrid working: Linked to Ewell, Surrey office.  A blend of working from home, the Ewell office and other locations for team meetings. 

• In-person working: Meeting in person is something we value. Mandated in-person meetings will be in place from Jan ’25. This includes regular meetings with line managers, team and directorate meetings, new starter inductions and time spent with colleagues in other teams. This is around 2 days per month and further information can be found on our careers website.   

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Web team

• Manage and improve content and functionality for Samaritans’ websites

• Manage major projects

• Manage third-party suppliers, platforms and tools

• Increase our digital reach

• Grow digital maturity

• Analytics and reporting

Your skills and experience

• Strong understanding of digital marketing techniques, processes and best practice.

• Expertise managing a digital content production workflow. 

• Experience managing web development processes, with experience of working in an Agile environment.

• Detailed experience working with and developing a CMS. Wagtail experience desirable but not essential.

• Experience of managing a high performing team.

• Demonstrable track record of successfully using data-led insights to support continuous improvement in a digital context. 

• Knowledge of the digital sector: key trends, technology, ideas.

• Understanding of user experience principles and skilled at interpreting user behaviour.

• Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and standards and how they apply to monitoring digital performance.
