We are looking to recruit a Fundraising Assistant to join our team based at our London site. You will join us on a full time, fixed term contract (up to 30 June 2025), and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £26,400 per annum.

The Royal Air Force Museum is a national museum, a Government non-departmental public body (NDPB) and a registered charity, with two sister sites at London and Midlands. Our purpose is to share the RAF story, past, present and future – using the stories of its people and our collections in order to engage, inform and inspire. Our Vision is to inspire everyone with the RAF story – the people who shape it and its place in our lives.

We have two public sites (London and Midlands) and a stored collection (Stafford). Our trading company and active fundraising supplement Grant in Aid which comes through the Ministry of Defence.

The Royal Air Force Museum is a Carbon Literate organisation and as such promotes Carbon Literacy.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is keen to progress their career in fundraising in an award-winning museum.

The role of Fundraising Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the team to generate income to support Museum programmes and charitable objectives.

You will contribute to achieving the team’s aims and objectives through undertaking key administrative tasks and assisting with the delivery of the individual and regular giving programme, challenge event fundraising and a £28M capital fundraising campaign supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The ideal candidate will have a broad range of administration and fundraising experience, with excellent verbal and written skills and a passion for delivering excellent supporter care.

Travel between the Museums two public sites in the Midlands and London and occasionally across the UK will be required as part of the role which will also provide opportunities to attend key Museum events and be the face and first point of contact for many of the Museums donors.

As a Fundraising Assistant, you will have a variety of roles which will include:

  • Supporting the Head of Development and Development Managers with reporting requirements and administrative tasks including fundraising initiatives such as Adopt an Artefact, individual giving fundraising and fundraising challenge events
  • Ensuring the Museum’s Development webpages are updated regularly with accurate information around partnerships, Development programmes and key contact points, and liaising with partners to provide content on these partnerships for their own websites and communications
  • Inputting individual prospect and supporter records on the Museum’s CRM database in a secure, accurate, accessible manner, and the reporting data in ways that support effective management analysis
  •  Ensuring that supporter communications are recorded on Raisers Edge in a timely manner
  • Playing a key role in ensuring that all RAF Museum donors enjoy a positive relationship with the Museum by delivering accurate and timely donor acknowledgement and the maintenance of supporter files 
  • Support the Head of Development and Development Manager Individual Giving with planning and delivery of the launch of the public MDP campaign
  • Prepare for and attending face-to-face fundraising events including RAF Graduations and Air Shows
  • Completing the weekly donation reporting for online and contactless donation
  • Managing in a timely and efficient manner the processing of monthly Gift Aid claims maximising income from eligible forms
  • Coordinating the team monthly financial reports and ensuring the timely completion
