We want kind and empathic people to work at Refuge, who believe in equality, diversity, and inclusion, are experts in their area of knowledge, want to make a positive difference and improve the lives of the women and children we support.

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Sexual Health IGVA supporting women and children who are impacted by Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). The Sexual Health based IGVA (Independent Gender Violence Advocate) will provide high quality independent advocacy and support to survivors of gender-based violence including victims/survivors of sexual violence and domestic abuse. This role will also focus heavily on raising awareness and building skills within communities and host services to better identify and respond to Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).

The IGVA will deliver VAWG services embedded within sexual health settings in Lambeth sexual health clinics and outreach teams, which contribute to local implementation of relevant national, regional, and local strategies. This role will include supporting people who may not be residents of Lambeth but who access open access sexual health clinics and outreach. The service will be co-located in the local Lambeth sexual health clinics and drop-in locations. The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors.
