Rackets Cubed is seeking an energetic, empathetic and resourceful person who has skills and experience to take on a senior leadership role and help grow the charity.

Background to Rackets Cubed

Rackets Cubed is a thriving young charity formed in 2016. Its purpose is to help primary age children from disadvantaged backgrounds by introducing them to a racket sport, providing additional tuition in a STEM subject, and then giving them a nutritious meal, all in an inspirational setting. We work closely with primary schools in areas of significant deprivation across the UK, and our host sites include sports clubs, universities, local authority leisure centres and selected school sites. 

Rackets Cubed also runs the Community Box Programme. 17 hubs across London and the Midlands providing food parcels to young families that require support. In Roehampton the charity runs a social supermarket that operates as a Community Hub.

Role Purpose

The COO will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the charity and for assisting the CEO in a variety of tasks.

·      To run the day-to-day finances of the charity including paying and raising invoices for all charity activities.

·      To run HR to include contracts, holiday requests, staff reviews

·      To manage and update all policies and procedures

·      To maintain good relations with all charity partners, especially schools and host sites and food suppliers, councils etc for our Community Projects.

·      To support the CEO with stakeholder relationships with funders, corporate organisations and the Local Council.

Key Tasks include

The successful candidate will be supported by, and be in close communication with the CEO, but will also work with the wider Rackets Cubed Team.

·      Process and pay all invoices

·      Reconcile invoices and payments on Xero

·      Monitor cost of community projects and core programmes

·      Reporting on costs

·      Responsibility for safeguarding

·      HR – producing job descriptions, contracts, updating holiday forms, managing staff reviews

Key Qualifications/Skills

 ·       Strong analytical skills

·       Super organised. 

·       Strong communication skills, both written and oral. 

·       A clear interest in, and passion for, supporting underserved communities. 

·       Excellent relationship-building and networking skills. 

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office. 

·       Some financial experience

·       A demonstrated history of working in a team and working independently and striking the right balance between the two.  

·       The ability to work as part of a team, communicate well, and ensure that administrative processes are properly followed. 

·       Highly motivated with a pro-active approach, the ability to solve problems, and adapt to changing circumstances. 

·       The ability to prioritise workload and to take on a range of tasks

·       A demonstrated history of working in a team and working independently and striking the right balance between the two. 

·       The ability to work as part of a team, communicate well, and ensure that administrative processes are properly followed

·       Highly motivated with a pro-active approach, the ability to solve problems, and adapt to changing circumstances

·      The role requires 32 hours per week. Regular hours can be fixed (with some flexibility).

·       Rackets Cubed are open to discussion about days and hours.
