Job description

KHULA Education is committed to improving the quality of education in rural KwaZulu-Natal, mobilising education as a pathway to community empowerment and alleviating poverty in one of the most marginalised areas of South Africa.

With more than 65 staff, KHULA Education is an impactful and innovative charity. We are supported by the David Rattray Foundation, which consists of one charity in the UK and one in South Africa. These two charities are legally distinct from one another, but have a singular mission and energy, to support the excellent work begun by the Rattray family and continued today through KHULA Education in South Africa to change the lives of rural children and their communities for the better.

Chair (Designate)
David Rattray Foundation (UK)
Unremunerated Position

We are now seeking to appoint a Chair for the David Rattray Foundation in the UK to succeed Robin Woodhead, who is coming to the end of his term.

We are seeking an inspiring and collaborative Chair who believes strongly in KHULA’s mission and potential. You will bring an impressive track record of leadership at a strategic level, relevant networks that can be engaged in support of the charity, warm and wide-ranging social skills, and ideally a connection to or strong interest in South Africa more generally.
