Campaigns Intern

 

Role Summary:

PETA’s campaigns team is at the core of the organisation – it’s a busy group of advocates pushing for an end to animal suffering with eye-catching, bold campaigns calling on the government, the corporate world, and the public to take action for animals. Our priorities include campaigning against the use of animals for experimentation, food, fashion, and entertainment. As our campaigns intern, you’ll have the opportunity to assist these efforts on the ground as well as in the planning phase. If you share PETA’s values and want to gain experience in a fast-paced campaigning environment, we can’t wait to hear from you. We’re looking for someone who can commit to three or four days a week (days to be agreed in advance) for a period of six months.

 

Position Objective:

To support and assist the campaigns team with actions and projects that further PETA’s campaigns and mission

 

Term of Employment:

Part-time (three or four days a week)

 

Location:

Hybrid: remote and in London (must be able to work from PETA’s London office at least 50% of the time)

 

Salary:

£24,000 (pro-rated)

 

Reports To:

Campaigner 

 

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist the campaigners with organising and holding demonstrations and other actions
  • Assist with day-to-day tasks within the campaigns team
  • Research our targets, conduct horizon scanning, and look for campaign opportunities
  • Perform general administrative tasks, such as assisting with our campaigns inventory, data-entry, gathering and sending materials to PETA entities and activists, and archiving photos after demonstrations
  • Travel when necessary to attend demonstrations, tabling, and other campaign events
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience as an activist preferred but not essential
  • Willingness to take part in demonstrations and disruptions
  • Knowledge of animal rights issues
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to be punctual and dependable
  • Willingness to travel
  • Adherence to a vegan lifestyle preferred
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organisation
