About The Role 

The Help for Heroes Community Development team are looking to recruit a team of Community Builders to assist in their reshaped participation and connection strategy. Using Asset Based Community Development, we seek to support the charity’s objective to enhance reach and positive impact for members of the Armed Forces Community facing challenges within their local communities.

About You

You will have experience leading and facilitating the mobilisation of local communities, asset mapping, bringing together people for engagement that matters to them. You will have knowledge and experience of Asset Based Community Development work, outreach methods and you will have good organisational skills, energy and the ability to animate local communities. 

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver outreach to drive local connection, engagement and participation opportunities for the AFC 

• Develop and embed an ABCD informed way of work 

• Asset map 

• Organise and facilitate community meetings to share ideas, encourage collective decision making and build a sense of belonging 

• Encourage and pilot community lead action in response to local AFC needs/interests through peer led/co-designed initiatives 

• Increase awareness of the challenges faced by military personnel, veterans and their families

PLEASE NOTE: The successful candidates will need to be based within an hour’s commute of their allocated locality and there is a requirement to travel within a 75-mile radius of this location (travel expenses covered). Flexibility in working hours is necessary to ensure a total of 70 hours is covered over a 2-week period so please take this into consideration before applying.

• A Community Development qualification and/or at least 3 years' experience working within a community development or similar role, with responsibility for bringing about social change and improving quality of life

• Experience of engaging and working collaboratively with partners/stakeholders 

About the Team 

You will work as part of the Community Development team; this newly formed team will approach working in defined localities using an asset based community development approach. The Business Development Co-ordinator reports to the Business Development Operations Manager and is the linchpin for our business development programmes.  You will be responsible for setting up events online and face to face, contacting trainers, taking bookings and supporting with promotion; making sure the support and content made available to families is kept up to date. The role also involves updating our CRM database, making sure invoices are raised and paid and collating information for reports from the database or Excel.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who has excellent IT and digital skills, ideally with experience of online event systems such as Eventbrite and Zoom, a good knowledge of Excel and experience using a CRM database. You’ll need to be highly organised with excellent written and verbal communication skills, a friendly, confident phone manner and a good knowledge of the issues and concerns families with disabled children face.

We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. About the role:

As part of our Global Fundraising Team, the Individual Giving Officer will support the delivery of our individual giving programme for UK and US audiences. You will work closely with our Global Individual Giving Manager and our wider fundraising team to increase voluntary individual income through proactive donor development. You will coordinate a variety of dynamic and planned communications over a range of mediums, ensuring that our messaging remains on brand and in line with our mission and values.

This is a great time to be joining MAG as we unveil a new five-year organisational strategy and an ambitious fundraising strategy to transform our income across the UK, US and globally. We have bold plans and a chance to invest in a new team that will secure growth.  We are therefore looking for a motivated individual who can drive forward the delivery of MAG’s individual giving programme through engaging campaigns to raise vital funds and create an inspiring supporter experience for our donors in the UK and US. 

About you:

You will be an empathetic and supporter-focused fundraiser with experience of individual giving. You will be a confident communicator over a range of mediums, with experience writing and reporting on fundraising campaigns. You will have excellent Excel skills and experience working with a fundraising database; in particular, experience working with Donorfy or Raiser’s Edge would be advantageous. You will also be a proactive problem-solver and a good team player, ready to take considered risks and forecast potential issues, but also capable of using failures as learning opportunities.

As a Purchase Ledger Assistant at Claire House, you will:

• Report to the Financial Accountant.
• Be responsible for the Purchase Ledger Function, including supplier payment runs, ad hoc supplier payments, and administration of the invoice and credit card systems.
• Monitor finance email boxes to ensure prompt responses and timely query resolution.
• Support the handling and counting of donations and facilitate their handover to cash collection services.
• Assist the Finance Team with daily and monthly tasks to ensure the smooth running of the department.

We are looking for someone with:

• Experience in purchase ledger and knowledge of SAGE 50 accounts.
• Understanding of accounting principles (preferably part AAT qualified).
• Strong IT skills, including a good working knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Excellent planning and organizational abilities.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work well with individuals at all levels.
• Initiative and the ability to work independently.
• Good interpersonal skills and a commitment to Claire House’s objectives.
• A belief in the value of volunteers and a multidisciplinary approach.
• An understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
