QuarterFive are delighted to be partnering with The Orpheus Centre, which supports young disabled adults to live and work as independently as they are able. They do this through developing their confidence and independent living skills, using arts-based, bespoke learning, work experience and supported living programmes delivered from their base in Surrey. All of their learners are learning disabled and some are also physically disabled.
The Orpheus Centre is located at a beautiful converted farm that provides teaching and performance spaces and self-contained accommodation. However, their success in enabling these young people to thrive means that they are over subscribed every year and have outgrown the current facilities.
The capital appeal will convert a building next to the Centre to allow for more learners to enrol, in particular more learners with more complex needs. Currently, the quiet phase is projected for 2024-2027, with the build phase being projected for 2027-2029.
The Head of Capital Appeal will sit on the SMT, reporting to the CEO, and be responsible for leading a small team of fundraisers also dedicated to raising funds for the build. While there will be a team to support, the Head of Capital Appeal will spend most of their time personally fundraising as well. There are existing opportunities, including a well-connected President (also the Founder), a Capital Appeal Committee which will be set up, and an existing pool of donors. A focus on new business, however, will also be crucial for the success of the project.
As Head of Capital Appeal, you will:
- Develop, implement and monitor the private and public phases of the capital appeal strategy to enable the Orpheus Centre to meet the appeal target
- Establish a high performing capital appeal committee of volunteers to cultivate and steward potential significant donors
- Deliver target income from a range of sources, primarily major donors, trusts and foundations and statutory sources, but not discounting other viable income streams
- Personally secure significant major gifts for the capital project
- Design, recruit and lead a team of fundraisers to support on fundraising for the capital project
- Research and identify potential funders for the capital project
- Work closely with the build project team, to ensure clear communication between the funding and the building of the project
- Provide timely reports for Senior Management Team and Trustees to facilitate effective cash flow management and decision making
Ideal skills and experience:
- Significant experience in a senior high value fundraising role
- Demonstrable experience of securing 5- and 6-figure major gifts
- Extensive track record in working with trusts, major donors and statutory funders
- Experience of line managing teams of fundraisers
- Ability to adapt to different audiences, including donors, senior volunteers, team members, learners and all colleagues in the wider organisation
- Experience in managing senior level volunteers and fundraising committees
- Understanding of disability language and issues
- Ability to demonstrate an appreciation of the arts

About the role:
We're looking for someone with the values, skills and knowledge to lead our learning and development function for a fixed period that will include project, budget, team and people management, developing new programmes of learning, commissioning training, developing an annual training plan and developing current systems and processes.

Job Purpose: To work, under supervision, delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild-moderate anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties. This will involve working individually with children or young people (5-18 years) and involving their parent(s)/caregivers as appropriate, offering psychoeducation workshops and co-facilitating therapeutic groupwork. Trainee Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs) will be expected to integrate into YMCA East Surrey’s Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health (EWMH) team and to support all early intervention work.
This Trainee Children's Wellbeing Practitioner role includes completion of the Child Wellbeing Practice Postgraduate or Graduate level Diploma run by the University of Sussex, which follows the nationally agreed curriculum to qualify as a Children's Wellbeing Practitioner. This year the course will run from 7th Jan 2025, for 12 months, with 2 taught days at university per week, with some university holiday weeks built in, followed by time to consolidate skills and meet the final academic deadline for the course in January 2026. The teaching is a blend of in-person and online, with the majority of teaching in-person.
Participation in this course involves learning the theory, and then translating this into practice in your service and covers a wide range of materials over 8 taught modules. There are a variety of assessment modes to assess the required knowledge and competencies. This training equips the student to acquire relevant knowledge to be an effective community mental health professional, working with children, young people, and their parents/carers. It provides the trainee with the opportunity to gain competence in the core skills needed to assess and formulate mild to moderate mental health difficulties with children and young people (CYP), before being able to then learn the skills to work with them, using a specific cognitive-behaviourally informed therapeutic intervention to meet the identified mental health need.
The trainee will learn therapeutic interventions to use 1:1 with children and young people and in group settings; ways to work with parents and carers of CYP with anxiety and worry, or those with behaviours that challenge; how to engage CYP, parents/carers and staff working with CYP in psychoeducation workshops to promote mental wellbeing for CYP. Students will also learn the thresholds for guided self-help for CYP, direct low-intensity intervention work, and when to refer on to other services within the local area.
Hours of work:Full time - 35 hours per week
Working Pattern: 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday (one hour per day for lunch which is unpaid
Contract Type: Fixed term training contract (dependent on completion of the course).
Course to start January 2025 and finish approximately end of January 2026 when all coursework has been completed.
Location: Phoenix Youth Centre, Tadworth, but working across various locations in East Surrey, as necessary.
Attendance at University of Sussex 2 days per week from Jan to October.

The Disability Inclusive Development (DID) Inclusive Family Planning (IFPLAN) project, funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), aims to reduce unmet family planning needs and increase access to modern contraceptive methods for people with disabilities.
Led by Sightsavers in partnership with BBC Media, JONAPWD, NDW, and PENDA, the project includes activities such as radio dramas, social media content, community dialogues, and training for health workers. It also involves accessibility audits, facility renovations, and advocacy efforts to support disability inclusion and gender equity.
The project focuses on increasing awareness of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), empowering people with disabilities to make informed family planning choices and creating a supportive environment through community engagement. Audio and visual content, including captions and influencer-led discussions, ensure accessibility and inclusivity.
Duration of Project: The consultancy is planned to take place between September and October 2024.
Purpose: To explore and document the learning on inclusive and accessible SBC processes in the IFPLAN project, using mainstream and digital media platforms and community engagement models. The learning pieces will cover planning, decision-making, creative design, and delivery phases, reflecting on the perspectives and experiences of people with disabilities and their key influencers.
Scope: The consultancy will document successful and unsuccessful approaches, stakeholder acceptability, and preferences, and provide recommendations for improvement and scalability. It will involve guiding research teams, synthesizing findings, compiling and writing reports, reviewing feedback, and ensuring final reports meet Sightsavers’ standards.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
The consultancy aims to explore and document the inclusive and accessible SBC processes in the IFPLAN project, using mainstream and digital media platforms and community engagement models. The learning pieces will cover planning, decision-making, creative design, and delivery phases, reflecting on the perspectives and experiences of people with disabilities and their key influencers. Harris Hill is seeking Fundraising Assistant from 14th October until Christmas, to support the community fundraising team at an arts based social welfare charity.
This role is a hybrid based role, working two days per week at their London office, with the rest from home. One of these days has to be a Wednesday.

The Political Studies Association (PSA) exists to develop and promote the study and teaching of politics and related disciplines. Founded in 1950, we are the leading association in our field in the United Kingdom, with an international membership including academics in political science, theorists and practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and students in higher education as well as members from the school community.

Location: All roles are based at our offices in Camden London but the PSA staff work hybrid and supports its staff to work remotely. Job purpose: The postholder will support our aim to be the leading advocate for and supporter of Political Studies in the UK. Working with the CEO, the rest of the PSA Team and trustees you will lead the association’s membership services, communications, outreach programmes, and events including:

The PSA is the home of Political Studies and in doing so the PSA’s staff and trustees work to bring our community together and advocate its importance to achieve our mission. This role plays a vital role in achieving this.
You will build and sustain a team of motivated and skilled staff and contractors and support them to continuously develop, innovate and enjoy their work. You will reflect the values of sustainability, diversity, advocacy and excellence in everything that you and your team do.
The post-holder will also contribute to the association’s income and membership targets, work within assigned budgets and creatively with partners as well as monitoring and reporting performance to trustees.

- Lead team members, suppliers, and partners to deliver this programme to as wide a range of teachers and pupils as possible
- Promote the teaching and study of Politics particularly post-16 and at undergraduate level
- Develop and deliver an offering for teachers and students (particularly post-16 resources and events) involving input from academics in line with PSA Strategy
- Support the PSA’s trustees on engagement and advocacy concerning post-16 curriculum and assessment.
Supporting Students, early career academics and those focussed on higher education teaching and learning:
- Support your team members in managing member networks including the PSA’s Teaching and Learning Network (TLN) and Early Career Network (ECN), its volunteer convenors (committee members) and programme of communications, resources and events and imbed these as a clear part of our membership offering
- Support your team members in undertaking the election and training of incoming committee members and ensure the development of appropriate procedures and annual actions plans so that they adhere to the byelaws of the association and agreed budgets
- Support the PSA’s trustees with engagement and advocacy concerning Higher Education teaching and learning and the content of Politics courses
- Work with team members to organise and develop the annual PSA undergraduate Conference, and develop a wider programme of work with opportunities to undergraduate students to engage with the PSA
- With support from the team, ensure the effective operation of the PSA’s family of specialist groups in particular the management and growth of their own membership and communications as well as supporting their events and, in liaison with the Finance Manager, their own income and expenditure
- Work with team members, trustees and association members on the provision of developmental activities including mentoring and training programmes.
Delivering the PSA’s Annual Conference, annual lecture, and other events:
- Devise in consultation with colleagues and trustees, a conference and events strategy for the organisation aimed to bring our community together, further our strategy and maximise revenues. This should include events supporting all membership types, specialist groups and our networks.
- Manage the team responsible for delivery and ensure productive relationships between staff and suppliers as well as academic and commercial partners
- Develop and manage project budgets including the Annual Conference from inception to completion in consultation with team members and the Operations and Finance Team, reporting to the Chief Executive and Trustees.
- Oversee existing systems to monitor progress and expenditure through the regular scrutiny and review of budgets and project plans, from proposal though implementation and delivery
- Support team members in the delivery of PSA’s annual conference and the wider events programme, ensuring that all of these are of the highest quality and linked to the PSA’s wider strategic priorities ensuring all these events are risk-assessed, insured, delivered cost-effectively, on time and to a high professional standard
- Exploit opportunities to increase membership, profile, reach, and income including sponsorship and advertising as well as opportunities to increase inclusion through technology. This will include you and your team building relationships with potential sponsors, advertisers and exhibitors to maximise the opportunities available at PSA events and in our publications including selling sponsorship/stand/exhibition space to potential exhibitors/partners
- Conduct post-event evaluation to ensure continuous improvement and assess impact
- Ensure a pipeline of future annual conferences and other events through effective engagement with trustees and university Politics departments and other stakeholders.

About the role
You will work closely with the Housing First team, colleagues and accommodation providers, to place clients directly into homes in places they want to be. Then you will work with them to develop outcome-focused support plans that reflect their personal strengths and goals, to make sure that they can sustain their accommodation and thrive in their community.
You will coordinate support around your clients and act as a key worker to help them sustain their accommodation and move forward with their lives. This will mean coordinating interventions provided by other agencies so that the right support is provided at the right time, to enable the service user to progress on their journey to recovery. Giving full advice on different issues such as homelessness and housing options, tenancy issues e.g. dampness and disrepair, welfare and housing benefits, debt and employment is also a key aspect of the role. You will need to visit clients in their homes or community locations which could be anywhere in Dorset.
About you
You will need a relevant background that includes experience of housing, homelessness and welfare benefits law and experience supporting people who are vulnerable and/or have multiple disadvantage. Through this you will have a good working knowledge of safeguarding frameworks. Proficiency using a range of IT tools to carry out your work, including Microsoft Office applications and case management systems. The role will need you to visit clients in their homes so you will need a valid driving licence and be willing to use your vehicle for work purposes - for which an essential car user allowance will be paid.

The fundraising team at Leeds Castle was established relatively recently, in January 2023, and is responsible for securing funds from trusts, foundations, public bodies and individuals. There is a vast ongoing cost to care for a 900-year-old Castle and Estate and they need to generate income above and beyond the successful visitor & hospitality businesses. The postholder will play a crucial role in delivering a funding strategy to support their new multi-million-pound project ‘safeguarding the Castle for the next 900 years’.
The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge and experience in trust and foundations fundraising, with a clear record of funding achievement. Working with the Head of Audience Development & Fundraising, you will drive forward their fundraising strategy, strengthen the trusts and foundations pipeline and apply for match funding opportunities. The successful candidate will be resilient and highly motivated, an excellent writer with a strong attention to detail. They will be a good researcher and relationship builder, keen to secure great financial results to support Leeds Castle’s ambitions.
The new fundraising department will focus on creating a fundraising strategy, setting up systems and processes, researching approaches and building their pipeline of funders almost from scratch. They have already had great success in securing funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, so need to expand and build their funding pipeline and look to engage new funders.
