Job Details
Damien Egan MP is looking for an experienced Senior Caseworker to join his constituency team in Bristol North East.
This is a full-time position and will mainly be based in the constituency office.
Key responsibilities
• Manage casework and gather relevant information to progress and resolve cases. Including producing casework reports to up date the MP.
• Dealing with enquiries from constituent’s face to face, by telephone, e-mail or letter.
• Overall responsibility for casework. Ensure cases are documented and progress is monitored.
• Organise surgeries, other meetings and constituency events and follow up as appropriate.
• Engaging with constituents and managing a caseload of complex cases.
• Drafting and sending responses to constituents, Ministers, and other organisations.
• Liaising and engaging with external stakeholders.
• Assist with any other administrative task as required.
• Attend events as required.
Skills and Experience. Personal, friendly and empathetic manor
• Experience in a similar role (advocacy, complaints, customer services, advice) is essential.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Confident to interact with and advocate on behalf of, a wide range of people.
• Being kind, sensitive and understanding when dealing with people.
• Good attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise own workload.
• Experience of working in a confidential environment.
• High standard of IT use e.g. casework management systems (or similar) and Microsoft Office Programmes.
• Full Driving Licence (highly desirable)
• Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Labour Party.
There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal working office hours and travel for work occasionally.
