The Head of Operations plays a key role within Fundraising to drive Fundraising operational performance and support, changing and transforming the way we work with a clear focus on supporting fundraising teams to deliver maximum value to our supporters. The post holder will ensure performance, development and growth activities across fundraising are well planned, consistently implemented and supported by efficient, effective and compliant processes, systems and practice.


You will be responsible for:
- Driving the Directorate, effectively bringing teams together from across functions, Directorates and external parties to define goals and objectives, develop realistic plans and resourcing, and to deliver anticipated outcomes and business benefits.
- Providing excellent management of the team - setting goals and objectives, managing resources effectively, coaching and developing the team, and ensuring the team delivers an excellent service to fundraising.
- Proactively engaging in understanding the work of Fundraising, demonstrating the ability to participate in the development of commercially appropriate business practices and ways of working, and to identify opportunities for improved ways of working and the effective management of risk.
- Ensuring processes, fulfilment and ways of working are established to minimise the distraction and impact they have on fundraising team, whilst also delivering efficient management of activity and supporter delight.
- Overseeing and reporting on operational performance, creating clarity around strong operational effectiveness, providing performance insights of the fundraising, escalating risks and concerns and performance review, as appropriate.


Key Criteria:
- Extensive experience in a senior operational or project management role
- Substantial experience managing a team including setting targets, planning workload and managing resources.
- Experience setting, managing and reporting on budgets at a team and portfolio level.
- Experience managing and leading business operational teams.
- Leading a portfolio of improvement projects delivering benefits in terms of cost saving, financial growth, and quality of product.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build rapport with people at all levels.

Salary: £54,680 - 60,746
Contract: 12 month FTC
Based: This role is predominantly home-based and can be based anywhere within the UK. You will be expected to travel to our sites across the UK with regular visits to Edinburgh and London. For those within commutable distance to London, you will have the option of working flexibly between home and in our modern open plan offices in Embassy Gardens.
