The charity delivers careers information, advice and guidance (IAG) services in ten prisons across Kent, Surrey and East Sussex; supporting prison residents during their stay in custody. 

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Careers Adviser to work at HMP Maidstone & HMP East Sutton Park . The purpose of this role is to provide residents with professional and impartial careers information, advice and guidance;  working with them to develop their motivation and work-related skills in order to enable then to move into employment, education, training, apprenticeship or volunteering on release. 

The role holder will also work with the prison staff to recruit, manage, mentor and support a caseload of peer mentors, delivering inspirational IAG and Employability programmes in both 1:1 and group sessions as required. 

The successful candidate will need to have: 

  • An IAG qualification to level 4 or above (for a qualified post); 
  • the ability to build effective and professional relationships with individual clients; 
  • a non-judgemental attitude with a desire to support people to fulfil their full potential; 
  • a high level of organisational skills with good time management. 

In return for your skills and experience, you’ll receive the following benefits: 

  • An annual salary of £26,398 to £31,554 (for a qualified post- and depending on experience)
