Job description

1x permanent role and 1 Fixed Term Contract (2 year).

The role:

Hackney has a longstanding reputation of being open and welcoming to migrants, refugees and asylum seekers - both as a Council and a community. The London Borough of Hackney is committed to ensuring people arriving in Hackney feel welcome and safe, and can access the support that is available.

Currently 800 people are seeking asylum in Hackney, and Welcome Hackney provides access to timely and effective support while they await the outcome of their claim. Hackney has also welcomed over 400 Ukrainians since 2022, as well as a number of Afghan families through the UK’s resettlement schemes.

These roles sit within the Welcome Hackney (Refugee, Migrant and Asylum Seeker) Service. They carry out administrative and finance functions to support our work with refugees, migrants and asylum seekers in Hackney.

At first, the fixed term post will support our Homes for Ukraine scheme, ensuring timely and accurate submissions to central government, and overseeing the financial elements to the scheme. This will likely broaden to other aspects of the service’s work over the two years.

The permanent role will report directly to the Welcome Hackney Lead, and support on data management and reporting, internal and external stakeholder briefings, and other activities that support the team’s wider work, such as our weekly drop in for refugees, migrants and asylum seekers.

Skills & experience:

  • Providing financial, project and administrative support to an executive, service, programme management office or similar.
  • Maintaining and managing project and programme management documentation such as project plans, risk registers, issues logs and highlight reports.
  • Working with a number of stakeholders to provide support across multiple projects or programmes.
  • Working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including partner organisations.
  • Work with project managers and the innovation and improvement officer to plan and deliver key coproduction initiatives including meetings, events and workshops.
