Title: Skilled Volunteering Programme Officer

Time Commitment: 3 days a week

Format: Flexible – hybrid, in-person at least 1 day a week in Battersea, London

Link UP London is looking for an enthusiastic, detail oriented, strong communicator and relationship builder to join our team and help support Link UP’s skilled volunteering across our programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a small but passionate team and play an important role in strengthening our initiative aimed at building stronger communities by mobilising professional skills for good.

About Link UP London

Link UP London began in Battersea in 2016 with the aim of building stronger communities within the city. We do this by connecting people with professional skills to small and medium sized local Social Good Organisations (SGOs – charities, social enterprises and community groups) on short-term, structured, meaningful Skilled Volunteering projects aimed at helping these organisations improve their development, growth, efficiency and impact.

We are now London-wide, connecting Skilled Volunteers with local charitable organisations in boroughs throughout the capital. We match SGOs with needed skills through our Skilled Volunteering Projects, Lunch and Learn events, Social Impact Solutions Programme for Corporates and Be Heard Programme strengthening SGOs communication abilities. Our committed team has made 472 matches between SGOs and Skilled Volunteers in 26 London boroughs to date.

The Role

This role will work closely with the Skilled Volunteer Manager to ensure that our Skilled Volunteering programme runs smoothly across all boroughs of London while maintaining the connected, high-quality of service that we always strive to provide.

Support the Skilled Volunteer process and build amazing relationships:

  • Track and respond to all volunteer and project requests
  • Speak with people/organisations that express interest
  • Support the volunteer placement process:
    • Help identify the right volunteer
    • Ensure project plans and agreements are completed and submitted
    • Support projects, organisations and volunteers as needed to ensure a successful conclusion
    • Support with monitoring and evaluation to capture impact
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with volunteers and charitable organisations
  • Ensure established processes are working efficiently and documented and contribute ideas to improve effectiveness of the Skilled Volunteering process and communications
  • Support the tracking and administration of the Skilled Volunteering process including ensuring that our database is up-to-date and working effectively
  • Support the development of strong relationships within different London boroughs and providing administrative support to outreach conducted

Help showcase our work and communicate what we do:

  • Support the Head of Programmes to deliver high quality programmatic events including Corporate events and Be Heard Programme events
  • Work closely with the Comms Manager to ensure that Skilled Volunteering is being promoted regularly through all our communication channels
  • Ensure that all relevant entities are receiving regular information about Skilled Volunteering
  • Support generating content as needed
  • Assist the Comms Manager with website maintenance, updates/changes related to Skilled Volunteering as required
  • Assist with events as identified by the team to develop the Link UP community

Other

  • Provide support and input into programme development and to newly developed activity as it emerges
  • Represent Link UP on and off-line within our communities of operation and beyond
  • Actively engage in the development and growth of Link UP London
  • Contribute to proposals and reports as required 

Person Specification

You are somebody who is organised, detail-oriented, a great communicator, personable and wants to make a difference in London!

Skills and Experience:

  • Project administration / coordination experience including managing process and procedures
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Experience conducting outreach and building strong relationships
  • Experience with detail driven roles and an interest and ability to delve deeper into specifics
  • Good knowledge of cloud-based peer-to-peer software platform
  • IT savvy and confident with social media; willing to learn a range of software if not currently known (Hootsuite, WordPress)
  • Experience with CRMs (we use ActiveCampaign)
  • Website maintenance experience (ideally WordPress)
  • Experience with event management (on and off-line)
  • Experience managing different work priorities and responding to changes with ease
  • Commitment to Link UP goals and vision Knowledge of the charitable sector and/or social enterprises
  • Knowledgeable about London's many diverse and unique communities (desirable)
  • Knowledge of organisational capacity building in the charity sector (desirable)
