Parkinson's support group volunteer

Barnstaple, Devon (On-site)
Unpaid role, expenses paid
Voluntary
Job description

Want to meet new people, get active, and make a difference to your local community? As a volunteer you'll get all this, whilst helping people with Parkinson's draw on invaluable support from their peers, and learn more about how exercise and other proven approaches can help them manage their Parkinson’s.

We are looking for people to help facilitate Power Up sessions in Barnstaple, North Devon. Power Up is an 11 week course led by Physio, Suzanne Seymour. The course includes 1 hour of exercise and 45 minutes of education on Parkinson's symptoms and the benefits of physical activity. Suzanne would like a Parkinson's UK volunteer to help support and facilitate the supporter's sessions that run for the families and carer's alongside the sessions that she runs for the people with Parkinson's. You will need to be objective, inclusive and hold back from your own narrative. Someone with a background in caring would be great but this is not essential. The main thing is for this person to be a good facilitator and able to hold a group, including encouraging participation from quieter members of the group.

As part of recruitment, you will be asked to provide a reference for this role. Speak to your staff contact for more information.
