Kicks Count is dedicated to reducing the UK's high rates of stillbirth and neonatal death by raising awareness of baby movements. In the UK, 7 babies are stillborn every single day. A key warning sign of a baby in distress is a decrease in movements. When a baby is deprived of oxygen, they will slow their movements to conserve it. About 50% of mothers who experienced a stillbirth noticed a reduction in their baby’s movements beforehand. Early detection and immediate reporting of any changes in movement can potentially prevent a third of stillbirths. Raising awareness about baby movements and encouraging immediate reporting of any changes can make a significant difference.
Which is where Kicks Count comes in! We print leaflets and posters and post for free to clinics and hospitals across the UK for medical professionals to hand to pregnant people, have a free downloadable app to help people monitor their baby's pattern of movements, share our message on social media and attend Baby Shows across the UK.
Our remote team is very small and no-one currently applies for any Grants from Trusts for our charity. We need someone with knowledge and experience to identify some sources of income and assist in the applications. We do not have large capital expense projects; some day to day core funding and small project funding is what we'd love help with.
There is not a set minimum/maximum number of hours or a set term, we would be extremely grateful for any assistance in obtaining any funds. You'd be working fully remotely with a small team of mum's working part time and juggling their own families, who have experienced the heart ache of baby loss wanting to make a difference.
Please send us an up to date CV and a short covering letter detailing your experience, reasons for wanting to support Kicks Count and the hours you feel you could commit to the charity.
