Job description

We are looking for someone who has a proven track record in securing funding for charities, especially corporate fundraising, who has ideas and contacts who can help us. We want you to make a positive difference to our long term future and to enable us to be able to improve our facilities to the best that they can be. You should have a desire to empower young children to improve their skills, independence and self-esteem through interacting with horses.

Your help and expertise in fundraising will enable us to discover new areas of support which will help us thrive and secure our long term future and ensure that many more thousands of local children can thrive as they interact with our horses.

We have been running for over 50 years and thousands of local children have benefitted from being members.

Every weekend 180 children aged between 8 and 18 come to our farm over four sessions lasting 3-4 hours each.  We have 25 horses and ponies and over 700 children on our waiting list.

The children who attend are taught practical skills and theory from a syllabus which gets more in depth as they progress through Rangers. The children learn every aspect of how to look after a horse, both as hands on learning and in theory lessons in our classrooms.  They work towards achievement badges and are given ranks and promotions to give them more responsibility as they prove themselves. In addition to learning about riding and horse care, rangers learn teamwork, leadership, confidence and many other important life skills.

We have had several children with 'challenging' behaviour attending Rangers over the years and have seen them change for the better as they are accepted and given responsibilities within the structure of Rangers. 10% of the children who attend have autism, ADHD or anxiety.

The children pay a monthly donation which covers the cost of looking after the horses, with very little, if any, surplus.

We would like a person with experience in fundraising and especially securing corporate funding to work with our existing fundraising team which currently has very limited scope. Our dream is to secure corporate sponsorship and grants which would give us financial stability and allow us to continue running without having to raise the monthly donations to the extent that local families can no longer afford to send their families to join us.

We fundraise throughout the year but need some new ideas as to how to tap into as yet untapped sources of income.
