The Erasmus Darwin House Museum is an independent, accredited museum located in the Cathedral Close, Lichfield. Once the family home of Erasmus Darwin (1731 – 1802), doctor, inventor and published poet, the museum showcases the breadth of Erasmus’s interests and achievements
The museum is a small but growing organisation with ambitious plans for future expansion of its services. It is a registered charity operated as a company limited by guarantee. The board of directors of the company are also trustees of the charity. To help us grow we need experienced members of the public to join our Board. We are particularly keen to recruit members of the local community and those within the West Midlands area who have one or more of the following skills:
• Experience in museums. arts and culture
• Experience in education (including higher education )
• Expertise in Marketing, PR or Event Management.
• Knowledge of the current health and safety regulations and safeguarding children requirements.
Board meetings are held twice a year at Erasmus Darwin House Museum, Lichfield (or by zoom) The Board supports the Museum Manager and her staff. There is an active team of volunteers and a Friends of the Museum organisation who support the aims and objectives of the Museum.
