About City College Norwich
City College Norwich has an outstanding campus with industry-standard facilities. Although our College has been established for over 133 years, a lot of the buildings on our campus have been built or newly refurbished in the past few years.
We want every student and apprentice at the College to be challenged to think about their future differently, consider what is possible and be inspired to succeed when they may not previously have believed this. We reject the notion that Norfolk is a “low aspiration” area. We believe that our mission is to build upon our students’ and apprentices’ desires for a bright future and to inspire them to succeed. We provide them with a clear route to achieving their goals and the support and challenge they require to reach their targets. Our College is a stepping stone to their future and we are relentlessly focused on what their next steps will be after College so that their future (and the future of Norfolk) is brighter because of their time with us.
About the role.
We are looking to engage a new Chair to lead our non-executive Governing Body with energy, enthusiasm, professionalism and dedication. Our expert Board currently comprising of 16 members collectively monitor the progress and development of the College to ensure we achieve our strategic priorities. Our governors come from a range of industries and backgrounds including local authority, healthcare, higher education and financial services. Above all else, we will require you to be ambitious for the College and its students, driven by our vision – to change Norfolk through learning.
Who we are looking for.
Our next Chair will have a good understanding of the needs and challenges in our communities across Norfolk, and the surrounding areas, recognising the impact on the College and its students, staff and stakeholders.
Working with other Board members and the Leadership Team, a key part of the role will be to ensure people in our locality have the opportunity to reach their potential.
You will be able to demonstrate a strong and visible passion and commitment to City College Norwich and to our strategic priorities. We want to benefit from your significant connections and influence in the region, as well as your ambassadorial networking abilities. Also, you will be commercially astute whilst having an appreciation of the advantages and constraints of guiding the College as a public sector organisation with competing regulators and stakeholders.
