Treasurer

Tearfund is seeking a new Treasurer with extensive financial management experience and relevant formal qualifications. If you're ready to make an impact, this is an exciting opportunity to join their team!

Tearfund is a Christ-centred INGO, established in 1968, with a bold vision: to see every individual freed from poverty, living transformed lives and reaching their God-given potential. As a dedicated, servant-hearted partner to local churches, they currently support 25,000 churches in over 50 of the world’s poorest countries. Their aspiration is to empower 250,000 churches to become centres of transformation within their communities and nations. They believe that the church, as the largest civil society organisation globally, is the most potent agent for holistic, transformational change. 

The Role
Alongside the specific requirements for the Treasurer detailed below, the successful candidate must demonstrate that they:
• Are a committed Christian, actively involved in their local church, and prepared to affirm Tearfund’s statement of faith, with an understanding of the evangelical constituency within their country.
• Possess a sound understanding of good governance, supported by relevant experience.
• Have a solid grasp of the developmental and theological issues pertinent to Tearfund, coupled with a strong commitment to justice for the poor.

Person Specification
• Significant experience in financial management at a senior level within one or more large, complex international organisations, supported by formal qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CPA or CIMA.
• A robust understanding of financial management and accounting within a charity context.
• Extensive experience in overseeing risk management.
• A clear understanding of effective governance in a charity context, with prior experience in a governance role.
• The ability to build a supportive and constructive relationship with the COO and the Head of Internal Audit.
