Job description

On Sunday 27th April 2025, we have over 1100 runners who have been training and fundraising for team Children with Cancer UK. Marathon day is our turn to support them and celebrate all the hard work they’ve put in for this challenge.

Children with Cancer UK needs volunteers to help us make marathon day a huge celebration!

If you want to get involved we have a number of volunteer roles you can support with. We have four vibrant cheer points along the route, as well as our meet & greet in the finish area and our hospitality at the QEII.

Cheer Points: Located along the marathon route. You'll be cheering, clapping and motivating the runners as they take on the challenge.

  • Cutty Sark - Mile 6
  • Tower Bridge - Mile 12
  • Canary Wharf - Mile 18
  • Embankment - Mile 24

Meet & Greet: This is where the friends and family are invited to wait at our meeting point in the meet & greet area in Horse Guards Parade for their runner. It is here that the team get to have a rest and a drink if they need it, photos with their family and obviously a huge welcome from our team.

Post race hospitality at the QEII: Our runners will attend the QEII after they have completed the run. Here they will receive some food, a drink and a well-deserved massage. You’d be talking to our runners and their families and welcoming back everyone who has achieved something special, congratulating them for what they have achieved!

Massage Therapist: Provide much-needed relief and support to marathon runners by volunteering as a massage Therapist. Your expertise will be instrumental in helping participants recover after the race. You will need to provide evidence of a massage therapy qualification.

Photographer: Capture the unforgettable moments of the marathon as a Volunteer Photographer. Your keen eye and creative skills will help document the triumphs, challenges, and celebrations throughout the event. From action shots on the course to candid moments at the finish line, your photographs will play a vital role in preserving the memories of this iconic marathon.

Whichever role you choose it’ll be a great experience and a lot of fun meeting our runners and their families.
