Manchester Mind is looking to recruit a Mums Matter Project Worker to work alongside our existing Co-ordinator in the delivery of the established project. The role will involve the delivery of courses, workshops, peer support groups and 1:1 support in Children’s Centres across Manchester to teach and develop self-care skills for women experiencing mental health difficulties in the first two years of parenthood. We would like to work with someone who has their own lived experience of motherhood, is dynamic, sensitive and passionate about being able to support women and work collaboratively with other services to improve wellbeing for women and their families.

Salary:                         £28,401 (pro rata £17,041)

Contract Type:          Fixed term for 12 months 

(extension possible dependent upon funding)

Hours:                         21 hours per week - days and hours to be agreed               

The skills and knowledge that are important to us are:

  • Experience of supporting people who have experience of mental health and/or perinatal mental health problems and an understanding of how that affects people and their families.
  • Experience of delivering training and teaching self-care strategies.
  • Ability to work in a strengths-based way that recognises the potential for individuals to develop and enable resilience.
  • Ability to create a sense of belonging through development of kind relationships that lead to people feeling accepted and able to contribute.
