Job description

We are seeking volunteers to help us with our fundraising efforts in the North and Kent regions. As a Regional Volunteer Coordinator, you will be the face of The Gurkha Welfare Trust (GWT) in your local community. Working with the Trust's Community Fundraiser, each Regional Coordinator will be asked to:

· Attend 2 or more events per year in their local community. These events could include fairs, local military events (such as Armed Forces Day), or larger county shows. The Community Fundraiser will assist with researching potential events and discuss a shortlist with the regional coordinators. Event bookings and relevant paperwork including payments where needed will be handled by the Community Fundraiser.

· Engage with local supermarket community champions to investigate opportunities for bucket collections and encourage local shops/restaurants to display a donation tin on their counter.

· Assist GWT with the recruitment of volunteers to attend community events and cheer at challenge events within their region, such as the Doko Challenges and Trailwalker.

· Encourage people to sign up to receive our monthly e-news or Samachara newsletter.

· Encourage supporters within their area to take part in GWT fundraising campaigns (e.g., Curry Night fundraiser).

· Represent the GWT at cheque presentations, award ceremonies, etc. within the region.

· Deliver presentations or give talks about GWT and our work to local groups such as Rotary Clubs, Masonic Lodges etc.

· Help to promote larger GWT-led events happening in their region.

 

Skills & Experience

To be able to undertake the Regional Coordinator voluntary role, the following qualifications, skills set and experience would be helpful:

· Excellent communication skills

· the ability to inspire others

· Approachable and comfortable with talking to members of the public about GWT and our work in Nepal

· Driving licence with access to your own vehicle

· A reasonable level of fitness (e.g. to be able to set up gazebos etc)

· Basic IT skills and internet access (ideally via a tablet, laptop or PC)

Previous volunteer experience may be beneficial, but is not required as guidance will be provided.

 

What you can expect from us

· A comprehensive Induction to the role

· Regular meetings with other regional volunteers and the Community Fundraiser.

· An “Event Pack” including GWT branded gazebo size: (3 x 3 m), tablecloth, pop-up banner, flags, and card reader to take donations.

· Support from our Community Fundraiser, providing advice, materials (i.e., leaflets, pens, wristbands, pin badges and stickers), and advertising and administrative support.

· We welcome your feedback to help us analyse the success of the fundraising activity.
