About Hatch Enterprise UK

Hatch is a national charity that supports underrepresented entrepreneurs from across the UK to imagine, launch, and grow sustainable, successful businesses that have a positive and lasting impact on their communities.

We’re committed to building a fairer society by helping develop entrepreneurs’ skills, knowledge, and confidence through our unique programmes designed by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs and our sustainable, compassionate financial support offering.

We’re a charity with a strong business mindset. Since 2013, we’ve supported 10,000 UK entrepreneurs to flourish, building a vibrant network of partners, funders, and investors who share our vision.

Our support is targeted at individuals typically underrepresented in entrepreneurship, including women and other marginalised genders, people from ethnic minority backgrounds, and disabled and neurodivergent people.

Until early 2020, most of the founders we worked with were based in London and the South East, but since moving our programmes online, we now support entrepreneurs from across the UK.

Our work has been recognised nationally, with Hatch featured in the NatWest SE100 Index as one of the UK’s top social enterprises and named among the Top 50 Accelerator Programmes in Europe by the Financial Times.

About the role

As Chair, you will lead the board and work closely with the CEO to ensure strong governance, drive strategic direction, and foster collaborations that amplify Hatch’s impact.

Working closely with the CEO and guiding the strategic direction of the board whilst ensuring alignment with Hatch’s mission, values, and long-term goals, your experience of organisational change and growth will help address challenges and opportunities proactively while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and accountability. You will also ensure effective governance, compliance, and best practices in charity management.

Acting as a trusted adviser, you will also provide mentorship and guidance while cultivating a strong working relationship.

Externally, the Chair will serve as an ambassador for Hatch, representing the organisation at major events, engaging with senior stakeholders, funders, and partners, and expanding Hatch’s network to drive growth and visibility in key sectors.

Above all, you will advocate for Hatch’s mission, ensuring it remains visible and valued in key sectors.

Who we are looking for

You will have an entrepreneurial mindset, understand the challenges of underrepresented entrepreneurs, value diversity, and have strong financial literacy.

With charity or social enterprise governance expertise, you will build board relationships and drive inclusive, well-governed growth, fostering a collaborative environment for lasting impact.
