About the role

The Global Programme Team Lead plays a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the UK’s internation with global initiatives. Reporting to the Chief Volunteer for International and maintaining regular contact with the UK Lead Volunteer for Programme, this role ensures alignment across global priorities while supporting the development and sustainability of impactful programmes.

As a key member of the UK International Leadership Team, the Global Programme Team Lead collaborates with stakeholders (World Organisation of the Scout Movement, European Scout Region, Non-Government Organisations) to identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and partnership. They oversee global programme development, ensuring quality, relevance, and alignment with strategic objectives.

This role requires a dynamic leader with a passion for global engagement, who can inspire and mobilise volunteers, foster cross-cultural understanding, and champion the UK’s contributions to international development.

Key tasks

The team will drive a range of international and global programme activities, including:

  • JOTA-JOTI (Jamboree on the Air-Jamboree on the Internet): A global event connecting Scouts through technology and amateur radio.
  • National Scout Organization (NSO) Programme Exchanges: Facilitating cultural and programme exchanges with Scouts from other countries.
  • Explorer Belt: A personal development and cultural exploration award.
  • Scouts of the World Award (SOWA): Promoting sustainable development and active global citizenship among young people.
  • Global / International Badge: review and development of the current activity badges for Global and International
  • Lead the development of World / Regional Event Resources (Jamboree in a box) World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) Initiatives: Implementing global Scouting priorities and projects (Messengers of Peace, ILT, etc)
