Cancer Research Wales is the Welsh cancer research charity and since 1966 our pioneering research has been saving lives.

We have invested over £30 million to fund the best researchers, clinicians and health professionals to push the boundaries of research into cancer discoveries here in Wales.

Our work is making Wales a healthier and better place to live and we are recruiting new members to our Board of Trustees. We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board.

We would welcome applications from people with experience in the following areas: Human Resources, Media (communications and/or marketing), Fundraising and Online Retail.

You do not need previous governance experience – we will provide a full induction and training.

Our trustees make sure that Cancer Research Wales achieves its core purpose by overseeing the overall management and administration of the charity.

They are responsible for the overall governance ensuring the charity acts in accordance with legal, charity and regulatory guidelines and ensuring that Cancer Research Wales has a clear strategy and develops its aims, objectives and goals in line with our vision.

Terms of office

• Trustee appointments are reviewed annually in accordance with the Charity’s constitution.
• This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

Time commitment

• Attend four Board meetings annually (currently held in person at our offices in Cardiff but with option to join remotely).
• Attend two annual strategy / training days.
• Potential to support Cancer Research Wales leadership team with the governance of specific key projects or initiatives.
