Communications Officer – AKU Society
Location: Remote (occasional in-person meetings/events) UK only
Hours: 30 hours/week (4 days)
Salary: £22,000
Reports to: Head of Patient Support & Welfare
The AKU Society, a UK charity supporting those with alkaptonuria (AKU), seeks a Communications Officer to raise awareness, engage our community, and amplify our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and manage content for the website, social media, newsletters, and events.
- Plan and execute social media campaigns and monitor engagement.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and partners to share impactful stories.
- Support events and fundraising communications.
- Track and report on communications performance.
Requirements:
- Experience in communications or marketing (charity experience desirable).
- Excellent writing and social media skills.
- Creative, organised, and proactive, with empathy for patient challenges.
- Familiarity with tools like Mailchimp, Canva, or similar is a plus.
