About Jesuits in Britain

The Jesuits, or the Society of Jesus, are a Catholic religious order founded in 1540 by Saint Ignatius of Loyola, now present in over a hundred countries around the world. In Britain, they are at the centre of a broad network of lay men and women who work throughout the UK in education, spirituality, social justice, pastoral care, and academic research, helping to bring the Kingdom of God to life.

From its early days in the 16th century, the Jesuits have been dedicated to caring for the disadvantaged, sharing the Gospel, and guiding people into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. Today, they continue to promote faith, justice, and reconciliation in society, focusing on four important areas:

  • Walking with those who suffer from poverty, discrimination, or injustice.
  • Accompanying young people.
  • Showing the way to God through the Spiritual Exercises.
  • Caring for our common home, the planet.

About the Role

We are looking for a talented and creative Digital Content Creator who can take our content production to the next level and strengthen our digital presence across multiple platforms. We are passionate about sharing our work with a wider audience, especially those under 40, to help them experience the richness of Jesuit spirituality and life. You will help us develop engaging content that showcases our work, providing opportunities for people to grow, connect more deeply with their spirituality, and engage meaningfully with the world.

As a Digital Content Creator within the Communications Team, you will be responsible for shooting and editing videos and photographs for the Jesuits in Britain’s digital channels, supporting its different projects (Vocations, Jesuit Institute, Jesuit Missions, and Thinking Faith) with their content needs, and assisting with longer-form content, podcast production, design, and various digital ventures.

You will play a crucial part in improving online engagement, broadening our audience, and raising awareness of our mission. By creating engaging and informative content that aligns with our brand and tone of voice, you will help ensure that the Jesuits remain relevant and impactful in today’s fast-paced digital landscape.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about storytelling through digital media, with a special connection to spiritual and social work, and a genuine appreciation for faith journeys and religious life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and edit videos, photos, and multimedia content for use across our social media platforms, websites, and other digital channels.
  • Manage social media channels and ensure they are regularly updated with fresh, engaging content.
  • Work closely with various teams, including Vocations, Jesuit Institute, Jesuit Missions, and Thinking Faith, to develop tailored content that reflects their specific needs and objectives.
  • Attend events and locations as required to capture real-time content (photos, videos, etc.) for immediate or planned publication.
  • Creating visuals and other digital assets for online use.
  • Manage content schedules to ensure a continuous flow of high-quality, on-brand material across platforms.
  • Collaborate with the Website & Digital Media Manager and the Digital Marketing & Development Manager to develop content ideas, campaigns, and shape and implement the digital strategy.
  • Monitor social media trends and analytics to optimise content performance and audience engagement.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven experience in digital content creation, particularly video production and social media management, ensuring best practices across all online platforms.
  • Proficiency in video production tools and editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro), including camera operation and equipment.
  • Skilled in short-form video editing (e.g., Instagram Reels, TikTok) with a strong understanding of social media platforms, including the ability to adapt to the latest trends and algorithms to drive engagement.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with a flair for storytelling and the intuition to independently create engaging content.
  • Basic graphic design skills and familiarity with tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and projects.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and potentially internationally.
  • Fluent English speaker with exceptional copywriting skills who can maintain a consistent brand tone of voice, balancing friendliness with professionalism.
  • Understanding of and interest in the mission of Jesuits in Britain.

Nice to have:

  • Experience working within a charity or non-profit sector.
  • Skills in animation or motion graphics would be a plus.
  • Experience with a social media scheduling platform, ideally Hootsuite.

Why Join Us?

  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the communities we serve by supporting the mission of the Jesuits in Britain.
  • Join a supportive and collaborative team of enthusiastic colleagues dedicated to making a positive difference.
  • Flexibility to work on a variety of projects and travel to different events and locations.
  • Hybrid work model with 2-3 days in the office.
  • A competitive salary and benefits package.
