Job description

Jangala is looking for a passionate Senior Project Associate to help us build a future where  internet access is available to the individuals and communities around the UK.

About Jangala

Access to the internet is a lifeline. But it is a lifeline that remains inaccessible to half of the world’s population. In the UK, Only 5% of state school teachers reported that all of their students have internet access (Sutton Trust 2021)

Jangala is on a mission to connect every school, clinic and community resilience project worldwide, so societies everywhere can meet the challenges of today and the uncertainties of tomorrow.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, we created Get Box to help people get online during lockdowns, connecting people through schools, an NHS trust, refugee charities and sheltered accommodations. In 2024, our Get Box UK programme aims to provide 5,000 Get Boxes and free data from VM02 to households and individuals across the UK, to tackle the digital divide.

By 2025, our goal is to have connected millions of people, including thousands of people in the UK, and develop a comprehensive approach to addressing digital exclusion

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Project Associate to help continue to deliver and scale our UK work. To begin with, this will include continuing to manage a programme to connect 20,000 people by April 2025, our current delivery partners include Local Authorities, national charities and other third sector organisations.

If you’re the successful candidate, you will play a leading role in establishing Jangala and its technology as a leading solution to the UK digital divide, bringing quality Wi-Fi into the homes of thousands of people who need it. Building on our work to-date, you will be responsible for managing the successful roll-out of our UK connectivity programme, managing key relationships with implementation partners and engaging with major funders, and reporting directly to our Head of Programmes.

This role offers potential for someone who has already been managing the delivery of UK-focused initiatives or projects to take the next step in their career to manage a hugely exciting programme of tangible impact, and to join a rapidly growing charity start-up in the technology space.

The salary for this role will be £36,000 to 39,000 depending on experience, supplemented by the company-wide bonus scheme and access to our shadow employee ownership scheme as the trading arm of Jangala is established. We plan for salaries at Jangala to grow alongside our positive impact on the world and our levels of responsibility and oversight.

  • In depth project delivery experience, with a proven ability to manage complex, high-impact projects with various stakeholders to successful completion

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and organisational skills

  • Demonstrable commitment to social justice,  particularly in tackling digital exclusion

  • Fast learner with the ability to rapidly develop an understanding of Jangala, its goals and its technology

  • A desire to contribute to and grow with a small start-up with huge potential
