Job description

A London-based Museum is seeking a Head of Finance to oversee the running of the finance directorate. This is a key role in the Museum, leading the finances from all aspects including budgeting and financial planning, oversight of day to day financial operations, and year end processes. The role is available owing to an internal secondment and therefore is offered on an 18 - 24 month duration. Candidates interested in part or full-time working options (equivalent to 4 days a week or more) are encouraged to apply. 

  • Leading on in-year and multi-year budgeting and forecasting for the Museum 
  • Overseeing the year-end accounts including being the main point of contact for external auditors
  • Managing a team of 10 accountants with oversight of the finance business partnering and financial reporting and transactions teams. Mentoring and developing direct and indirect reports and ensuring staff development plans are in place. 
  • Preparation and presentation of key monthly and quarterly financial reports to Directors, SMT and Trustees 
  • Act as the go-to finance business partner for key C-Suite stakeholders within the charity.

Your profile:

  • You will be a qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent) with strong experience of both financial reporting and overseeing budget setting processes.
  • You will have experience of managing staff and helping to develop and mentor teams of a medium to larger size.
