It is an exciting time to join the charity - we have a new CEO in post who has plans to take this charity to new heights - reaching even more children than ever before and we need an experienced fundraiser who can help us achieve that vision. Working as part of a small fundraising team you will have the ability to really make a substantial difference.
The role is advertised as 15 hours however there is the hope that this will end up being increased in the not too distant future. We will consider candidiates working remotely but for those based near HQ (Newquay, Cornwall) you will be able to join in with our pre work swims/paddles/coffee on the beach and our Bring and Share lunches! The Centre for Computing History is an accredited museum and charity situated in Cambridge, with collections and learning at its heart. The museum's core purpose is to increase understanding of the history of computing by exploring its social, cultural and historical impact.
Our collection rightly celebrates the incredible evolution of computing technology. However, the museum also has a responsibility to recognise the ecological impact of the rise of technology, and to date we have not explored these stories. We are excited to have secured funding from the Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund, run by the Museums Association, for an exciting new two-year project, Broken Tech : Broken Earth. We will be exploring how the explosion in technology over the last 80 years has impacted the local and global environment. More info can be found on our website.
Role Summary
We're now seeking a talented, energetic and efficient Project Coordinator to oversee this exploratory project.
The Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund, run by the Museums Association, aims to encourage participatory practice in museums, and this concept lies at the heart of this project. Participatory practice means involving visitors and communities in the creation and interpretation of museum exhibitions, programs, and events content – asking for stories about objects in the collection, rather than assuming we know what the most important stories are. This approach is inclusive, encourages visitors to feel ownership and helps museums discover untold stories about their collections.
We are looking for someone special to co-ordinate this process and exploit our unique platform to raise awareness of environmental issues and e-waste and to create change. The Project Co-ordinator will take ownership of the day-to-day operations of the Broken Earth Project, including working closely with all external and internal stakeholders, monitoring progress, and ensuring project milestones are met. This new fixed-term role is a critical part of the project and crucial to its success.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
-
Strong interest in conservation, ecology and promoting a circular economy
-
Excellent interpersonal, communication and advocacy skills
-
Confidence working with a range of colleagues across a variety of organisations
-
Proven organisational and time management skills
-
Experience facilitating in-person and/or online events
-
A creative, positive, proactive and self-reliant approach to work

Job Description
The Jewish Museum London has undergone substantial positive change over the past year, moving out of our Camden site and moving to a ‘Museum without Walls’ model. With new leadership installed at both lay and staff levels and a consultation process about to begin for the development of a five and fifteen-year strategy the Museum is looking for a new member of the team to assist our new CEO, Sally Angel, as she works to deliver a new vision for the Museum.
Our museum is made up of passionate and expert staff and a collection of over 40,000 objects which are both accredited and designated with Outstanding status by Arts Council England. Our learning programmes hold multiple awards, and our visitor feedback is consistently very high, however, we have much bigger ambitions than our current success. The Museum is looking to expand, in space, in profile and in audience reach. We are looking for someone passionate about our potential to assist the CEO and the wider team as we move forward to the next phase of the Jewish Museum London.
Reporting to the CEO, the appointed candidate will have the organisational and administrative skills to ensure the CEO and SLT can efficiently run the Museum as well as provide general administrative support to the office.
