Age UK Enfield is a North London charity which supports older people across the borough of Enfield. We provide varied services including fitness classes, social sessions, plus advice and information on issues including housing, benefits, bereavement and funerals. We provide a Home Care and Support Service, and also have a day care centre for people with dementia.

We are looking to recruit a Senior Finance Officer. This post is a key position within the finance team and is responsible for day-to-day management and maintenance of the purchase, cash and nominal ledgers. You will process all financial transactions, enter data and compile reports using Xero and Microsoft Excel.  Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the role includes completion of all weekly/monthly accounting tasks and production of draft management accounts as well as supporting the Finance Director with reporting for the CEO and Board of Trustees.

The successful candidate will be qualified with experience of the UK charity or not for profit sector. You will have robust technical skills and a proactive approach with a proven ability to focus on solutions. You will have excellent people skills and the ability to work closely with operational managers and the organisations finance Officers.

You will need to work in the office at least 2 days per week, 1 of which will be Thursday. You will have some flexibility to work from home

Summary of Role

Key Responsibilities

Data Collection, Management and Analysis:

• Maintain and oversee all Choose Love data, ensuring all data is accurate, up-to-date and clean.

• Work with the digital strategist and head of communications to scope and assess the most effective and efficient ways for Choose Love to collect, process, analyse, and report on data, feeding it into the mid and long-term strategy. 

• Work closely with external suppliers, leading on data management and systems.

• Support finance team and digital strategist in tracking donations to key fundraising appeals, including emergency fundraisers and winter fundraising campaigns. 

• Manage data flows across our different platforms and support the implementation of automation processes where appropriate. 

• Work closely with departments across the organisations, specifically  Comms & Marketing, Partnerships and Programmes and respond to internal requests for fundraising data analysis and reporting. 

• Create monthly reports on fundraising performance across comms activities to share with the team and embed best practices in future fundraising content. 

Fundraising and Donor Optimisation:

• Work with digital strategists to optimise fundraising communications and reporting.

• Integrate data analysis into digital fundraising strategy. 

• Analyse the performance of fundraising campaigns and recommend improvements.

• Segment audiences for fundraising campaigns based on various criteria (e.g., donation history, demographics) through managing datasets. 

• Develop predictive models to forecast future donations and help identify potential major donors.

• Use data to tell compelling stories that resonate with donors, supporters, and the public.

Continuous Learning and Compliance:

• Stay up-to-date with data analytics tools, techniques, and best practices to enhance your skills and contribute effectively.

• Ensure that data handling practices comply with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR)

• Be mindful of ethical issues related to data usage, especially when dealing with sensitive information about displaced people.

Essential Criteria:

• Extensive experience with different database systems and knowledge of data maintenance 

• Demonstrable knowledge of Microsoft Excel to an advanced level

• Proficient in data analysis tools with extensive experience of  cleaning, manipulating, and analysing data effectively

• Understanding of statistical concepts to draw meaningful insights from data and to assess the effectiveness of fundraising campaigns and support programs

About You

As our Philanthropy Manager you will be responsible for cultivating, and stewarding relationships with our current and prospective philanthropists. Your focus will be on securing substantial gifts ranging from £50,000 to £250,000 annually, ensuring their contributions create a meaningful impact.

Leveraging your proven track record in building and securing high-value relationships, you will adeptly align donors' passions with our goals, fostering partnerships that advance our cause. Your ability to problem-solve and progress relationships will be crucial in sustaining and enhancing our philanthropic efforts, that create lasting impact for children.

This role will involve working collaboratively across Save the Children teams to develop compelling proposals, secure support, and create sustainable partnerships.

In this role, you will:

• Independently manage a portfolio of existing and new donors through a variety of personalised and creative approaches ensuring excellent stewardship and translating into increased income for Save the Children. 
• Actively drive new business, working closely with key members of Save the Children's programming teams, and Philanthropy colleagues to identify the most appropriate and impactful proposition to secure partnerships that create impact for children. 
• Work with other colleagues to identify and assess new prospects and to identify the most appropriate and impactful proposition to secure partnerships that create impact for children. 
• Develop networks amongst donors and prospects to promote Save the Children's work and grow opportunities for philanthropic gifts. 
• Work cross-departmentally to produce high quality written proposals, bids, concept notes and applications to donors.
• Work in collaboration with other colleagues to identify, design and execute new engagement events, opportunities, and products for potential and existing donors.

To be successful, it is important that you have:

• Experience of working in a fundraising environment or similar experience where comparable skills can be used to work with potential high-level funders and supporters.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build relationships with, engage and influence a wide range of donors, and stakeholders (internal and external).
• Independent worker with the ability to plan, prioritise and manage a varied workload to meet deadlines, and pro-actively identify and pursue new opportunities.
• Project or partnership management skills including reporting, budgeting, meeting deadlines and working across multiple teams.
