Data and Insight Analyst

About the role
We are looking for someone who has a passion for working with data, and providing business intelligence that leads to action. If you love creating simple ways to explain complex data, and are excited by revealing the stories hidden within the data, then this could be the role for you.
Your main focus will be to provide reporting and research for our fundraising and marketing initiatives, helping to create a clear view of our marketing directorate performance. You will work closely with colleagues and key stakeholders to understand business intelligence requirements, scope out projects and deliver reporting to agreed specifications.
You will work closely with colleagues to ensure that reporting is used and a data-driven culture established. The outputs from your work will lead to insight that supports strategy development, and future investment decisions. Some projects will focus on other areas of organisational data, such as measuring our impact, or our financial model, as required.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have proven experience in analysing data and producing reporting, ideally using some advanced techniques for data extraction and manipulation (such as SQL) and a modern data visualisation tool (such as Power BI or Tableau). Full training will be provided, to enable the postholder to develop into a fully rounded data analyst, including training in the maintenance and development of our in-house data warehouse.
About you
We are looking for a pro-active self starter, who has a passion for working with data and a hunger to learn. You will be patient and methodical in your work, and be able to focus both on the technical aspects of data analysis and reporting, and also understand the strategic thinking that your work will contribute to.
You’ll be great at building relationships with stakeholders, and be comfortable in communicating complex information through a variety of means.
Your work will help to ensure that we maximise efficiency in our fundraising programmes, and as such you’ll be comfortable challenging the status quo, and making suggestions for how we might change, as we look to continuously improve.
Key Working Relationships
The successful candidate will work closely with all colleagues from within the Marketing Directorate, IT, Finance, Fundraising, and potentially all areas of Practical Action here there may be reporting needs.
External relationships with consultants/agencies, and third party software suppliers.
Accountabilities:
- To contribute towards the development and production of a large and complex portfolio of reports, produced by the Data and Insight Team.
- To work closely with colleagues to embed reporting into day-to-day work, encouraging a data-driven and evidence-based approach to decision making.
- To work with the Senior Data Services Analyst, Data and Insight Manager and IT, to develop our data structures and architecture, enabling a robust data model and real-time reporting.
- Develop our use of Power BI, our data visualisation tool of choice, keeping up to date with latest reporting technologies and proposing changes and enhancements to such software where appropriate.
- To work with colleagues across the marketing directorate and wider Organisation to understand business intelligence requirements, scope out projects and deliver reporting to agreed specifications, presenting complex information through a variety of means.
- To work with marketing audience strategists and the Data and Insight Manager in the commissioning and production of research, and contribute to statistical modelling projects.
- To propose and pro-actively undertaking supporter analysis with the aim of promoting efficiencies and value for money within fundraising campaigns.
- Play a key role in strategic projects, as required, acting as a subject matter expert for data, covering a range of topics, such as supporter journey mapping, process documentation / re-design, software implementation to name just a few.
- Conducting marketing data selections, to provide fundraising colleagues with carefully curated data which will power marketing campaigns.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

- Advanced use of MS Excel (pivot tables, IF and VLOOKUP).
- Working knowledge of GDPR and data protection and fundraising regulations and compliance.
Desirable
- An understanding of data warehousing techniques.
- Expert user of MS Excel (PowerPivot / data model, VBA, statistical techniques)
- Working knowledge of SQL (basic SELECT statements, JOINS and GROUPING data, Common Table Expressions (CTEs), Partitions, Aggregate Functions).
- Experienced using a statistical analysis package such as SPSS and a working knowledge of statistical techniques such as CHAID and logistic regression.
- Knowledge of fundraising, and market research techniques and methodologies.
- Experience of producing reporting within Power BI.
- Experience of working with The Raiser’s Edge.

The Benefits Service within SEL Mind supports people with mental health problems to navigate the benefits system and challenge unfair decisions. The service currently operates across Bromley, Lewisham and Greenwich, delivered in partnership with local NHS. It includes dedicated welfare benefits specialists who provide casework support, and a cross-area team of volunteers who assist with form filling and assessments for health and disability benefits.
The Casework Manager will play a key part in the service, providing line-management and supervision to a team of welfare benefits specialists, and on-site supervision for South East London Mind’s weekly form-filling clinic. The post-holder will lead on making sure that we are delivering high-quality and accurate advice in a way which meets the needs of our clients.
We are looking for people with significant experience of working within welfare benefits, including providing representation at appeals, and giving advice on complex entitlement issues. A strong understanding of the needs of people with mental health problems, and experience of management and supervising the work of others (whether staff or volunteers) are also essential to this role.

The role
This role would be joining the Digital and Physical Infrastructures policy team, one of three thematic engineering policy teams alongside Climate and Sustainability and Health and Resilience. Partnership Manager - Wales
Location: The role will be based out of the BookTrust Offices in Cardiff. We are looking for someone both to deliver our immigration casework and to manage and develop our immigration advice services, including recruitment, line management & supervision of relevant staff and volunteers. The post holder will provide one-to-one legal immigration advice, casework and practical support to migrant and refugee clients in Brighton & Hove and Sussex in the areas of out-of-scope immigration and occasionally asylum work (up to OISC L2). You will also provide supervision for L1 and trainee staff and volunteer advisors as required. You will share the management of our broader advice & casework team, including generalist and resettlement casework, with our current generalist and resettlement managers.
You will be accredited to provide immigration advice at minimum OISC Level 2 and expected to carry a caseload of cases largely out of the scope of legal aid. For cases within scope you will make active referrals or signpost to legal aid providers wherever possible and practical.
Along with other managers you will lead on the development of our casework management system, AdvicePro, to ensure that agreed advice and organisational outcomes are embedded from the outset, and that staff and volunteers are trained and equipped to understand and provide these. You will be required to monitor and report against projects as needed by both funders and internally for e.g. the director and trustees.
You will be expected to participate in local networks and to participate and lead on conversations to develop immigration advice capacity in the city and region and to influence change and find solutions to the critical lack of immigration advice on the south coast.
You will have an awareness of clients’ holistic needs and be able to signpost and refer both internally and externally as appropriate to address needs including destitution; asylum support; children’s, family and adult social care; welfare benefits; housing & homelessness; access to mainstream and voluntary sector services including ESOL and employability, health and mental health care; and referrals into activities and services that can respond to people’s strengths and skills as well as their needs, including our own support groups and volunteering opportunities.
You will contribute to the senior management team of Voices, working closely with the Director, Head of Services, Generalist Advice Manager and Resettlement Manager to share oversight and reflections and planning of current operational needs and strategic planning.

CB Plus is seeking a talented and creative Fundraising Manager, who will be integral to supporting the financial sustainability of CB Plus. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet financial targets, ensuring a consistent and expanding revenue stream. This includes building a diversified income base for CB Plus, planning and coordinating fundraising events, and building and managing relationships with commissioners, funders, and donors.
The Fundraising Manager will identify new funding opportunities and secure potential donors, researching funding prospects and developing strategies for new support. They will prepare grant proposals, manage grant reporting requirements, and liaise with funding organisations to present CB Plus’s case for support. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising, excellent communication and relationship-building skills and will be dedicated to our cause.
The postholder will be part of CB Plus’s newly formed Management Team. The Fundraising Manager will report to the Director of Operations and work closely with the CEO.

Background:
First Step Trust (FST) is a charity that provides work experience, training and employment opportunities for people excluded from working life because of mental health problems or other disadvantages (workforce members).
Our approach is about giving workforce members the chance to overcome some of the difficulties facing them by getting them involved as colleagues. We provide ‘on the job’ training, advice and support to enable each person to improve their basic skills and knowledge of the various work undertaken. This will include supporting workforce members to gain recognised qualifications and access to work placements with our customers and other organisations.
We are in the process of developing a more formalised training and employment support programme (SMaRT Pathways) particularly, but not exclusively, in the area of the Automotive trade. SMaRT Pathways will include the delivery of vocational training through the use of various technologies including video, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and other mediums making the learning process more accessible to those who struggle with traditional learning methods due to issues around literacy, numeracy and low levels of self-confidence/anxiety.
Job Role:
The main objective of this post is to enable people with mental health difficulties and other disadvantages (workforce members) to engage with and access open employment. The EDTW will achieve this by taking responsibility for proactively recruiting people to the project, overseeing their development whilst at the project, including delivery of training courses as and when required and supporting them to move on to employment or further training.
Main duties:
Networking with other services in the area to raise awareness about FST, promoting work placements and training courses as well as promoting the business services.
Recruitment and development of potential workforce members - being proactive in following up on enquires regarding work placements, interviewing potential workforce for work placements at the project.
Employment support – assist workforce looking to move on to paid employment by providing support in job search, CVs and interview preparation. To develop a network of appropriate work placements by building contacts with local employment agencies and employers to ensure access to work for all workforce preparing to move on from FST.
Training – assisting when required, in delivering a variety of courses both in house and recognised qualifications to people with common mental health problems both workforce members and visiting trainees utilising the various technologies as they are developed.
Monitoring and reporting - complete, manage and provide regular, accurate, appropriate and timely reports to agreed deadlines in order to monitor progress.
Office duties – working with workforce members as colleagues ensuring that daily tasks are completed in a timely fashion.
To work in accordance within the limits and parameters as set out in FST’s policies and procedures, by the Board, Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive and other senior managers.
Perform other tasks as reasonably required according to the needs of the project and FST.

We are seeking (two) Suicide Bereavement Liaisons to join our Grief in Pieces: Support for Suicide Loss team. The incumbents will be experienced mental health practitioners with the understanding, therapeutic skills, personal qualities and compassion for working effectively with those affected by suicide bereavement.
The suitable candidate(s) will work with individuals, groups and communities, offering practical and emotional 1-2-1 (therapeutic) support as well as group-based interventions.
The postholder will also support with facilitating events and workshops, as needed, across the boroughs of North-East London as well as in local school and community venues.
The postholder(s) will enjoy working independently but will also work well as part of a team, ideally with experience of inter-professional working across health, education and social care.
The individual(s) will have experience of or be willing to develop the necessary skills to work in a trauma-informed, compassion-focused and CBT-informed approach, offering a balance of bearing witness to the emotional devastation of traumatic loss and gently facilitating posttraumatic coping and growth.
