Job description

We're looking for an exceptional campaigning professional to lead our campaigning strategy into the future.
Are you an experienced campaigns manager wanting to make your mark on standing against torture and for a compassionate UK asylum system? Freedom from Torture's award winning campaigns, developed and delivered alongside survivors of torture, have made a huge impact for people. From our Stop the Flights campaign, persuading airlines to pull out of the UK's cruel Rwanda scheme to successfully campaigning to remove torture, war crimes and crimes against humanity from impunity protections in the Overseas Operations Bill.


This role sits within the Survivor Leadership and Influencing Directorate and is responsible for developing impactful, strategic campaigns that support the delivery of Freedom from Torture's influencing aims.


A new role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and lead a programme of work that will deliver a shift in narrative and positive policy changes to stop torture and stand up for the rights of survivors. This role works closely with Freedom from Torture's digital team, experts in innovative, engaging digital campaigns delivery.


About the role


The key purpose of the role is to lead on the strategy and delivery of Freedom from Torture's campaigns programme to deliver our influencing objectives. Working closely with Policy and Advocacy colleagues on our international accountability and refugee rights workstreams and our survivor leadership team, the Campaigns Manager will build a campaigns strategy to engage public audiences to drive our influencing work.

The role works closely with colleagues in our digital team, most specifically the Digital Engagement and Campaigns Manager, who will be responsible for developing and delivering digital communications to engage the public and our supporters in campaigning activity.

* You have a strong understanding of what metrics indicate campaign success and how to analyse and act on results
* You're a great relationship manager with experience with working with broad coalitions and lived experience groups
* You're politically savvy
* You are highly developed in influencing, persuasion and negotiation skills.

Our policy is that all appointments will be at the start of the salary range but successful candidates will have the opportunity to move up the scale over time. For this role, the salary range is £47,432 - £55,021 (including London Weighting).
